Public told not to approach Edward Hayes, but asked to call 911

The Western Valley Region RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a 30-year-old man wanted in connection with a series of offences in the Woodstock region.

On Friday, July 25, members of the Western Valley Region RCMP were patrolling in Benton when they encountered an individual operating an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) without a helmet. The individual, a 30-year-old man from Benton, was known to police and is currently on several conditions, including being prohibited from driving and being bound by an ankle monitor, which he had cut off. Police attempted to stop the man, who then ran his ATV into a police vehicle and proceeded to flee.

A short time later, police observed the man driving his ATV through the parking lot of the RCMP detachment in Woodstock and through the front lawn of the Woodstock Provincial Courthouse. Both properties sustained minor damage.

Police are seeking the public’s help to locate Edward (Eddie) Hayes, who was last seen in the Woodstock region, driving a camouflage ATV and wearing a t-shirt and shorts. If you see him, please do not approach, but call 911.

If you have seen Hayes or have information on his whereabouts, please contact the Western Valley Region RCMP at 506-325-3000. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), downloading the secure P3 Mobile App, or submitting a secure web tip at www.crimenb.ca.
