Lots to see and do during New Brunswick Day long weekend

WOODSTOCK:

There is a busy Saturday ahead for the closing of Old Home Week in Woodstock.

The morning of Saturday, Aug. 2, starts off with a celebration of dedication, learning, and accomplishments with the 4-H Achievement Show at 9 a.m. in the Agriculture Building at 103 Connell Park Road.

Youth from Countryside 4-H and River Valley 4-H will proudly showcase their hard work and skills.

Since May, these amazing participants have been raising and training their calves or lambs, caring for them every step of the way, and preparing them for the big show. On Achievement Day, you’ll see the results of their commitment and passion!

Come out and support these incredible young people as they demonstrate their projects and celebrate the spirit of 4-H!

1 p.m.

Campbell Amusements opens.

The Hobby Show and Exhibition buildings open.

2 p.m.

The Richard Sharpe Demolition Derby at Connell Park Raceway.

7 p.m.

The NB Hall of Fame Music Show at the McCain Theatre.

Doors open at 6, with the show starting at 7. Tickets available at the AYR Motor Centre. $20 advance, $25 at the door. Performances by Ron Vautour, Reg Gallant, Gary and Tammy Morris, Allison Inch, Tim Wallace, Noel Nason, Oland Monteith, and rising stars Amber Walls and Colby Mawhinney, with MC Brent Buchanan.

10 p.m.

Fireworks from Connell Park Raceway

HARTLAND:

The Annual Bridge Fest is underway, with many events on its big day, Monday, Aug. 4.

The 10TH ANNUAL NEW BRUNSWICK COVERED BRIDGE MARKET gets underway at 9 a.m. and runs to 4 p.m. with 200 vendors and 20 food eateries on the Covered Bridge and in the parking lots.

There is also a GUIDED NATURE WALK at 9 a.m. on the Becaguimic Trail with Andrew Smith.

HEARTLAND CULTURE ON THE GREEN is a fine arts show and sale that takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Charles Allen Park beside the library on Main Street. Artists will be painting on site.

There are HISTORICAL PICTURES ON DISPLAY as you walk through the market on the bridge.

ANTIQUE VEHICLES will be lined up along Main Street throughout the day.

The official WELCOME from Hartland Mayor Tracey DeMerchant, with councillors and invited dignitaries, happens at the Hartland Library at 11 a.m.

The HOLE IN ONE SHORE TO SCORE takes place at 11 a.m. behind the Gazebo. Hit a ball across the river. Three balls for $10. Bring your own favourite club! Continues until someone gets a hole-in-one or all prizes are gone. Craig Manufacturing sponsors this event.

There will be CHILDREN’S CRAFTS from 10 a.m. to noon at the Dr. Walter Chestnut Library.

Be sure to drop by the KID ZONE from 11:30 to 3 p.m. This is free of charge

Take part in the COLOUR RUN at 11:30 a.m. with the Hartland Fire Department’s Giant Sprinkler. This is an all-ages event.

ALL DAY there will be Mr. Balloon Man, Face Painting by Jill Fox, Henna Tattoos, a children’s vendor with slime, cotton candy, dried candy, popcorn, beavertails and more.

Enjoy ENTERTAINMENT in the library parking lot with Fiddlers at 11:30 a.m., Line Dancers at 12:30 p.m., and Zach Peters from 2 to 4 p.m.

FIREWORKS will be in Coldstream at dusk.
