Perth-Andover Rotary Club to host famed Celtic tenor in exclusive New Brunswick performance
Internationally acclaimed Scottish-Irish singer John McDermott will delight Perth-Andover audiences with enduring songs like Danny Boy, My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean and Scotland the Brave when he takes the stage later this month.
McDermott and his band will perform the special concert on Sept. 13 at the Andover Elementary School Gymnasium, starting at 7:30 p.m.
The concert is the only New Brunswick stop of his 2025 North American tour. Supporters of the Making a Difference Food Bank in Perth-Andover, Grace Notes Music Academy and the Rotary Club of Perth-Andover have agreed to cover the concert costs, leaving all ticket sales to support these worthwhile causes.
“It is a joy to be back again in Perth-Andover, seeing old friends and performing for such a worthy and important community cause,” McDermott said. “The Making a Difference food Bank is an important and needed community service in these difficult and trying times.”

“Perth-Andover residents have been very generous to support the concert costs and bring this world-class performer to our community. We are hoping for a great turnout on Sept. 13 and to raise thousands of dollars for the food bank and helping children receive an incredible music education,” said Dr. Terry Shaw, Perth-Andover Rotarian and one of the concert organizers. “It should be a great time for everyone.”
McDermott is Canada’s best-known Irish and Scottish tenor, releasing his first album in 1992. The musician has recorded 25 albums over his lengthy career, including double and triple platinum recordings. McDermott’s concerts have been described as an intimate evening with a friend – if your friend can sing songs like the Cliffs of Doneen and Red is the Rose with a warm, lilting voice that leaves everyone clamouring for more.
The concert will also feature McDermott’s band mates, accomplished musicians Jason Fowler on guitar, Maury LaFoy on bass and Drew Jurecka on fiddle.
Shaw said McDermott’s concerts are usually sell-outs, and with the Perth-Andover event limited to 550 tickets, he expects sales will be brisk. There will be 80 VIP tickets at $80 each. In addition to preferred seating, these fans will receive the latest CD recording, Scrapbook, autographed by McDermott.
Tickets are available online at ticketpro.ca for $40 plus HST and applicable fees. More information about John McDermott is available at www.johnmcdermott.com.
