Nackawic hosts upcoming fishing tournament
The Nackawic waterfront will be a busy place on Oct. 18. The community will host the Saint John River Chapter Muskie Canada tournament that weekend. Participants in the Muskie tournament are coming from New Brunswick, Quebec, Nova Scotia and Maine.
Mayor Tim Fox said the town is hoping to put a bid in to host the PanAm (Pan-American Black Bass Championship) in 2026, as it will be Canada’s turn to host.
He said they’d like to explore ways to attract a major event.
Underground electrical contract awarded
Council awarded the underground electrical contract for the new subdivision being built in Nackawic to K-Line Construction. K-Line came in with the winning bid of $790,050.00, including HST. GEMTEC recommended K-Line as they were the lowest bid and have experience with this type of construction. CAO Kathryn Clark said the work will take place over 10 weeks this fall.
Local golfers to represent province nationally
Councillor Jeff Clark gave a shout-out to Brady Stairs and Andy Nestoruk. The two have earned a spot in the 2026 BDO National Golf League Final at TPC Toronto. They will be one of three teams to represent New Brunswick.
The duo represented the Nackawic Golf & Country Club at the Provincial NGL Final, which was held at the Covered Bridge Golf & Country Club.
