Victim remains in hospital after she was attacked in her home
The Woodstock Police Force (WPF) is asking for the public’s help after a 74-year-old Woodstock woman was attacked in her home on Houlton Street during the evening of Oct. 20.
Destiny Dawn Innis, 23, of Woodstock, has been charged with attempted murder in relation to the incident.
The WPF is asking anyone who was in the area of Houlton Street and Charles Street between 8 and 10 p.m. on Oct. 20, and who may have video footage or other information relevant to this investigation, to contact the Woodstock Police Force at (506) 325-4601, or to provide information anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), using the secure P3 Mobile App, or submitting a Secure Web Tip at www.crimenb.ca.
Innis appeared in custody via video in Woodstock Provincial Court on Oct. 23. Judge Henrik Tonning read the attempted murder charge to Innis, noting that she was accused of stabbing and attempting to suffocate the victim. The court heard that the attempted murder charge replaced the original charge of assault causing bodily harm. Relatives of Innis, who were in the courtroom, became emotional when the charge was read, and left the court right after her appearance.
Innis will be back in court for a bail hearing on Oct. 30 at 1:30 p.m. She remains in custody in Miramichi.

Police were called to an altercation at a residence on Houlton Street around 8:40 p.m. Oct. 20. A woman was taken to the Upper River Valley Hospital and later transported to the Saint John Regional Hospital, where she is being treated for serious injuries.
