Officers deploy tire deflation device to stop suspects

Three people have been arrested following several offences, including theft and flight from police, in the Meductic and Simonds areas.

On Nov. 17, at approximately 8:06 p.m., members of the Western Valley Region RCMP received a report of suspicious activities in the Meductic area.

While patrolling, police attempted to stop a vehicle of interest hauling an enclosed trailer on Temple Road in Meductic. The driver fled at high speed towards Simonds.

Shortly after, members deployed a tire deflation device to stop the vehicle and arrested a 39-year-old man from Hartland, a 25-year-old man from Southern Victoria, and a 24-year-old man from Beaconsfield without incident.

After the arrests, police searched the vehicle and seized ammunition. Police also determined that the enclosed trailer had been reported as stolen.

On Nov. 18, 39-year-old Tim Wheelan from Hartland appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court and was charged with failure to comply with a probation order, breach of recognizance, possession of stolen property obtained by crime worth over $5,000, resisting a peace officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and flight from a peace officer.

The same day, 24-year-old Brandon Schriver from Beaconsfield appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court and was charged with possession of a firearm while prohibited and possession of stolen property obtained by crime worth over $5,000.

The 25-year-old from Southern Victoria was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

The investigation is ongoing.
