Municipal candidate lists continue to fill out

People stepping forward in the Upper River Valley as municipal election approaches

The municipal candidates list on the Elections New Brunswick website is filling out as more people put their names forward to run in the May 11 election.

As of Easter Sunday, Nackawic-Millville incumbent Mayor Tim Fox has reoffered for the position, as has his councilmate, incumbent Deputy Mayor Greg MacFarlane, for District 3. Others running include Beverly Forbes and incumbent Colin Trail for District 4, and incumbent Steven Meldrum is reoffering in District 5. All Nackawic-Millville districts will elect one councillor, except District 3, which will elect two.

Here’s who’s registered as a candidate for the May 11 election in other River Valley municipalities, so far:

Lakeland Ridges:

Mayor: Leonard Foster (inc.) and Greg Grant

District 1 (2 positions): Elizabeth Luimes and Hans Stevens

District 2 (2 positions): Linda Porter (inc.)

District 3 (2 positions): Karen Patterson, Sterling Wright, and Chris Yerxa (inc.)

District 4 (2 positions): JJ (Governor) Carrier and Barb Glanville (inc.)

Woodstock:

Mayor: Trina Jones (inc.) and Jeff Wright

Ward 1 (1 position): Michael Martin (inc.) and May Atkinson

Ward 2 (1 position): Will Belyea (inc.)

Ward 3 (1 position): Catherine Davies and Scott Dunlop

Ward 4 (4 positions): Jeff Bradbury (inc.), Norm Brown (inc.), John Dolimount, Laura Gaddas, Christa McCartney (inc.), Mark Rogers (inc.), and Arthur Slipp

Ward 5 (1 position): Robin Antworth, Keith Bull, and Lorne Leech (inc.)

Hartland:

Mayor: Tracey DeMerchant (inc.)

At Large (3 positions): Stewart Fairgrieve (inc.)

Ward 1 (1 position): Jason Smith (inc.)

Ward 2 (1 position):  no name(s) yet

Ward 3 (1 position) : Samuel Walton (inc.)

District of Carleton North:

Mayor: Andrew Harvey (inc.)

Councillor at Large (2 positions): Laurel Bradstreet (inc.), Jayne Geddes, Karen Hargrove (inc.) and David Trafford.

District 1 (1 position): Michael Stewart (inc.)

District 2 (1 position): Tammy Nicholson-Kirkland and Chala Watson (inc.)

District 3 (1 position): Charles Macdonald and Scott Oakes (inc.)

District 4 (1 position): Ryan Dickinson (inc.)

District 5 (1 position): Angel Connor (inc.)

Southern Victoria:

Mayor: Cindy McLaughlin (inc.) and Tamara Titus McPhail

At Large (1 position): Rodney Brayall

District 1 (1 position): Joe Gee and Todd McGruire

District 2 (3 positions): Sheila Cummings (inc.), Paul Legace (inc.), and Daniel Sooley

District 3 (1 position): Miranda Francis-Perley and Sara Plant (inc.)

District Education Council nominations

District education council positions will also be voted on during the May 11 election.

So far, no one has put their name forward for the regional school zones that are covered by the River Valley Sun. Zone 2 includes Perth-Andover, Zone 3 encompasses Florenceville-Bristol, Bath, Centreville, Hartland, and Woodstock. Zone 4 includes Canterbury and Nackawic.

Nominations are open until Friday, April 10, at 2 p.m.
