Body recovered from St. John River in Hartland

Local fire department responds to call at Hugh John Flemming Bridge

On Thursday, May 28, the Hartland Fire Department recovered a body from the St. John River near the Hugh John Flemming Bridge in Hartland.

​The call, originally reported as a water rescue, was received at 3:21 p.m.

“[We arrived] a couple of minutes after that, as we had some people at the hall,” said Hartland Fire Chief Philip Brown.

Members of the Hartland Fire Department dive team, the RCMP, and Ambulance New Brunswick also responded to the call.

The body was retrieved at 4:25 p.m.

“Our condolences are with the family,” said Chief Brown

The incident is being investigated by the RCMP.
