6th annual Ride 4 Suicide Awareness set for Sept. 12
The Ride 4 Suicide is gearing up for another year of awareness and fundraising.
The event is to take place on Saturday, Sept. 12, with all proceeds going to the River Valley Suicide Prevention Committee.
Registration for the event runs from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with each bike charged $20 to enter the rally.
Once all racers are situated, the ride will begin at 11 a.m. from J&T Powerports, then take a loop around town before ending back at J&T.
Between 9 and 11 a.m., live music will be performed at the registration site until riders take off.
Aside from the race itself, the event promises many door prizes, such as gift cards, coolers, cups, and more, as well as a 50/50 draw.
In addition, a burnout competition will be held after the race.
“To know that they’re not alone and to reduce suicide,” said Maria Pozsgai, Founder of Ride 4 Suicide Awareness, when asked why events like Ride 4 Suicide Awareness were important to the local community.
Pozsgai went on to speak on how she began the event when her niece, who she frequently rode motorcycles with, tragically died by suicide.
“Even if just people don’t want to ride motorcycles, everyone’s welcome, it’s just a day to help support each other,” concluded Pozsgai when asked what she wanted readers to know about the ride.
Organizers expect the event to attract 100 to 150 bikes and hope to raise over $10,000 for charity this year.
