Woodstock Police Force asked residents to avoid Charlotte Street and surrounding area for an hour

In a social media post at about 10:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9, the Woodstock Police Force told residents it was conducting a police operation and to avoid a specific part of town.

“Woodstock Police Force is currently in the area of Charlotte Streer,” the post noted. “A police operation is currently underway, so Houlton Street from Phillips Drive to Broadway Street is currently closed. Please remain away from the area until otherwise advised.”

At approximately 11 p.m., the post was updated.

“The police operation in the Charlotte Street area has now [been] completed safely,” the updated post said. “Houlton Street is now open for traffic. Thank you for your continued cooperation in these matters. Your safety is our number one commitment.”

The post does not indicate what the police operation was about.
