RCMP asks public for help after suspicious fire, death in Deerville

The Woodstock RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance following a suspicious fire in Deerville, where a deceased individual was discovered inside the building.

On Oct. 1, around 5 a.m., members of the Woodstock RCMP and Lakeville Fire Department responded to a mini-home on fire on Route 560 in Deerville. 

Once the fire was extinguished, police discovered a body inside the residence.

The RCMP’s Major Crime Unit is in charge of the investigation and is treating both the individual’s death and the fire as suspicious.

A member of the New Brunswick Office of the Fire Marshal and the New Brunswick coroner’s office are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
