by | Sep 14, 2026

Lakeland Ridges wards 1 and 3 and Grand Lake’s at‑large seat are up for election; voter cards arrive starting Oct. 5.

Nominations have opened for three local government by-elections to fill vacancies in Lakeland Ridges, wards 1 and 3, and a councillor-at-large vacancy for the local government of Grand Lake, scheduled for Monday, Oct. 19.

Nominations can be submitted to the Municipal Returning Officer. Nomination papers must be submitted before 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25, 2026

If more candidates are nominated than can be elected, Advance polls will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10.

Election Day polls will be open Monday, Oct. 19, between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Voters will receive a Voter Information Card in the mail starting Oct. 5.

If a voter doesn’t receive a card, they may not be on the voters list or may not be listed under their current address. To get on the list, complete an application before Oct. 19 or at the voting station. Electors who have voted before can call 888-588-8683 to update their voter information.

Who can vote

Electors must be at least 18 years old, a Canadian citizen, and have lived in New Brunswick for at least 40 days immediately before election day.

What to bring to the polling station

Voters can tell their name and address to poll workers.

First-time voters must bring ID with their name, photo, current address, and signature. Financial or credit cards are not accepted.

A person without ID can be vouched for by a voter at the polling station whose name is on the voters’ list for that polling station.
