Perfect weather, free fries make for another successful event

The sun was shining, and spirits were high as the District of Carleton North celebrated National French Fry Day in Florenceville-Bristol.

This year, the celebration kicked off a day early on Friday, July 11, 2025, with a French fry bar at Potato World Museum, where guests could sample a variety of McCain French fries.

John and Jean Maunder provided live music for the crowds, who showed up in significant numbers, said Tammy Kirkland, manager of Potato World, who noted the museum was a “packed house.”

On Saturday, McCain Foods held its annual Family Fun Day, featuring a variety of family-friendly activities, including free French fries served by McCain volunteers, live music from Ivan Daigle, a magic show, face painting, a bouncy slide, and a market with 16 local vendors.

Members of the District of Carleton North municipal council, as well as Carleton-Victoria MLA Margaret Johnson, entertained guests by competing in a French fry sculpture contest, with Councillor Mike Stewart winning the competition by the “tip of a toothpick.”

The event drew a large crowd of family and friends from near and far, and all had a great time.

“A world with French fries is a world with more joy,” declared MLA Johnson.
