Dragon boat racing: A floating success

by | Jul 1, 2024

Second annual July 1st Floats draws huge crowds

Carleton County’s first dragon boat races on Canada Day saw crowds flock to the Woodstock waterfront. The races were a part of the July 1st Floats Canada Day celebrations held in the NBCC parking lot. The event included live music by The Martin Boys, vendors, food trucks, and bouncy castles.

The inaugural dragon boat races saw teams from the community, Woodstock High School, the Town of Woodstock, Woodstock Rotary and corporations like McCain Foods and others compete on the Meduxnekeag River.

Freelance reporter Connor Barry will have his full story on the success of the first dragon boat event and a gallery of photos from the celebrations on our website later this week.
