Arthur Slipp throws hat in municipal arena – again
On the opening day of nominations, Former Woodstock Mayor Arthur Slipp put his name forward for the coming municipal elections in May – this time as a councillor. Slipp served as the town’s mayor from 2008 to 2022. Prior to that, he was a councillor for one term. While mayor, Slipp served on numerous provincial committees and held multiple posts with the Union of Municipalities of New Brunswick (UMNB).
Incumbent Woodstock Mayor Trina Jones has put her name forward for the position again, and incumbent councillor Christa McCartney wants to again represent Ward 4.
In Southern Victoria, the current Mayor, Cindy McLaughlin, is reoffering, and Todd McGuire (Ward 1) and Daniel Sooley (Ward 2) have put their names forward.
In the District of Carleton North, incumbent Mayor Andrew Harvey has filed to run as mayor. Incumbent Michael Stewart has put his name forward to run as a councillor in Ward 1.
In Lakeland Ridges, Leonard Foster is reoffering as Mayor, and Hans Stevens has put his name in for Ward 1.
No one has yet filed their nomination papers in Nackawic and Hartland.
Candidates have until April 10 to file their papers with their local returning office. The election will be held on Monday, May 11.
