Six-month shutdown to start after New Year
The Town of Hartland announced that an extended closure of the Hartland Covered Bridge will begin on Jan. 3, with its anticipated reopening on June 15, 2026.
The closure will allow repairs to the pedestrian walkway. While the bridge will be closed to vehicles, it will remain open to pedestrians, who will be routed through the vehicle lanes.
Julie Stockford, CAO for the Town of Hartland, said that at this time, it is unclear whether recreational vehicles will still be allowed to cross the bridge during the repairs.
“We’re still waiting to hear back [from the province]. We assume they will be allowed since they have been allowed during past repairs, but we can’t speak for the province.”
Stockford said that whether recreational vehicles are allowed will likely depend on the equipment required for repairs and the available space.
Stockford said that the Town of Hartland will update its Facebook page as soon as it receives a response from the Province.
