Jacksonville woman announces election bid for council
Julie Williams seeking seat in Woodstock’s Ward 3 in Nov. 28 municipal election
Jacksonville’s Julie Williams announced plans to run for council in Woodstock’s Ward 3 in the Nov. 28 municipal election.
The following is Williams’ statement announcing her candidacy.
“Born and raised here in Woodstock and a current resident of Jacksonville, I am honoured to announce my candidacy for the Ward 3 seat for Woodstock town council.
I am the proud mother to a hardworking and brave son Lukas, a recent graduate from APA for Conservation Enforcement, who has fought wildlife fires across the country; and a wonderful daughter Aria who is in Grade 4 French Immersion at Townsview School and current Little Miss Woodstock.
“Although I grew up in Woodstock, my experiences working throughout North America have given me a broad perspective and some innovative ideas about growth opportunities and new experiences that I believe Woodstock should offer.
“I am a skilled communicator and organizer and have a strong work ethic. I believe these characteristics, combined with my passion, will help Woodstock prosper. I have been with a local communications company for almost seven years, and as a manager, I have team members throughout New Brunswick and Ontario. I am a former chef and café owner and volunteer at heart, whether through food drives, mission trips or our local PSSC committee. I love to give back.
“I enjoy spending time outdoors and going for hikes. I love listening to music, reading, cooking, baking, and watching movies. I am also a founding member of the non-profit Cinderella’s Closet River Valley, helping make dreams come true for grads in need.
Please consider voting for me on Nov. 28, and remember, everyone gets to vote for mayor!”
