Folks across Lakeland Ridges celebrated a merry little Christmas on Dec.
7 at the Kirkland Community Hall. About 50 people attended, including
families with children, who came to visit Santa and Mrs. Claus and have
their photos taken.
There was Christmas music, carol singing, hot chocolate, and lots of
homemade goodies to enjoy. Santa welcomed the children to sit on his
knee and whisper in his ear what was on their wish list this year. Mrs.
Claus read, The Night Before Christmas, to those gathered around the
Christmas tree, and also led the children in song.
Event organizer Robin McDermid called it “a great night” for the
community with young and old alike coming together to mark the Yuletide
season.
She was assisted in hosting the event by Mayor Tanya Cloutier, Mark
Grant, and hall committee members Sharon Griffin, Lynwood Anderson, and
Judy Cole-Underhill. McDermid is a new member of the hall committee.
Mayor Cloutier said the event was an example of how the communities and
people within Lakeland Ridges can work together to support activities
and undertake projects for the benefit
of all. Newly elected councillor Patricia Budd was also in attendance to
offer her support.
The Christmas party raised $350 at the door, while tickets continue to
be sold on a Christmas gift basket. Proceeds will go to support the
upkeep of the hall.
