RCMP believe a third man may have been in the vehicle and left the scene
An early-morning single-vehicle crash on Thursday, Sept. 26, near Woodstock claimed the lives of two Sussex men and left Western Valley Region RCMP seeking more information.
In a news release on Sept. 27, the RCMP said two men, aged 43 and 45, from Sussex, died as the result of a single-vehicle crash near Hay Settlement, a rural community between Woodstock and Meductic.
The RCMP said members responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Highway 2, near Hay Settlement, at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Sept. 26.
Police believe the crash occurred when the eastbound vehicle lost control and drove into the ditch. The 45-year-old man died at the scene as a result of his injuries, while the 43-year-old was transported to hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries.
The statement said members of the RCMP Remotely Piloted Aircraft System and Ambulance New Brunswick attended the scene.
An RCMP Collision Reconstructionist and a New Brunswick Coroner’s office member are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
The RCMP release said police believe that a third person may have been in the vehicle at the time of the crash and has yet to be identified.
The RCMP asked anyone travelling in the area and witnessed the crash, anyone with dash-cam footage, or anyone with information that could help further the investigation to contact the Western Valley Region Detachment at 506-325-3000.
