500 days in jail for crime spree
Connell McLean, 30, of Centreville, was sentenced in provincial court on April 7 to 500 days in jail, minus time served, after changing his plea to guilty on seven charges laid by the RCMP.
Judge Rose Campbell also placed him on 12 months of probation and prohibited him from driving for two years. McLean will have 115 days left to serve once his remand time is applied. He was also ordered to seek counselling and treatment for drug addiction.
McLean pleaded guilty to two counts of fleeing from police and dangerous driving for incidents on July 15 and July 16, 2025, in Wilmot.
He also pleaded guilty to possession of a stolen side-by-side, altering the vehicle’s serial number, and flight from police on July 22, 2025, at Wilmot, and to resisting arrest on July 25, 2025, at Summerfield. McLean has a lengthy prior criminal record.
He was denied bail on July 28, 2025, after being arrested on a warrant. Police had been on a manhunt for McLean since the warrant was issued on July 17, 2025. He has been in custody for the last eight months.
Four-month conditional sentence
Dylan Rideout, 26, of Coldstream, was handed a four-month conditional sentence and 12 months of probation when he appeared in provincial court on April 7. His conditional sentence will include two months of house arrest and two months of following a curfew.
Rideout pleaded guilty to committing mischief, causing property damage to a vehicle on Feb. 11, 2025, at the Superstore parking lot in Woodstock and guilty to failing to report his whereabouts to the national sex offender registry on Oct. 2, 2025, in Woodstock.
He was also charged with two counts of uttering threats and agreed to sign a 12-month peace bond. The peace bond will result in the withdrawal of the threat charges.
Released until sentencing
Logan James Estey, 21, of Woodstock, appeared in provincial court in custody for sentencing on April 7 after changing his plea to guilty on several charges laid by the RCMP and Woodstock Police.
His sentencing was adjourned until May 21 at 1:30 p.m. He was released from custody. The court heard that other charges were being transferred from Fredericton for his sentencing hearing.
Estey was denied bail on Sept. 22, 2025. He pleaded guilty to two counts of breaching his release order in September and June of 2025 and mischief causing property damage to a window for an incident on Jan. 1, 2024, in Upper Woodstock.
Estey also pleaded guilty to two counts of assault and assault with a weapon (a car) for an incident on July 24, 2024, at Wotstak (Woodstock First Nation).
He was charged by Woodstock Police with two counts of breaching a no-contact order concerning an incident on Aug. 3, 2024, in Woodstock. He pleaded guilty and was ordered to have no further contact with the female complainant. Three other charges were withdrawn by the Crown.
Fined for meth possession
A Nova Scotia man appeared in provincial court on April 7 after being arrested at the Woodstock/Houlton border on a drug charge.
Evan Cotie, 33, pleaded guilty to indictable possession of methamphetamine for an incident at the border on Jan. 11 when 124 ice pills were found during an inspection of his vehicle. He was fined $200 and handed a conditional discharge and 12 months of probation. Cotie had no prior criminal record.
East Brighton man awaits sentencing
Ozzie Jr. Trecartin, 31, of East Brighton, appeared for sentencing in provincial court on April 7 after changing his plea to guilty on charges laid by the RCMP. His sentencing was adjourned until May 6 at 9:30 a.m. at the request of his defence counsel.
Trecartin pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm without a licence, storage of multiple firearms in a careless manner, and resisting arrest on July 21, 2024, in East Brighton. He also pleaded guilty to impaired driving and two counts of driving while suspended on July 21, 2024, in Peel.
Other charges of attempted murder, reckless discharge of a firearm at a place while a person was inside, two counts of indictable assault against another man, and uttering threats were withdrawn by the Crown.
Trecartin appeared in provincial court by video from custody for a bail hearing on July 30, 2024, and was released on conditions. He was ordered to have no firearms in his possession.
Released with conditions
Curtis Brent Hatheway, 46, of Woodstock, appeared in provincial court in custody via video on April 7 for a bail hearing. He was released with conditions, including an ankle bracelet and an order to report to the police weekly.
Hatheway was charged with breaching a release order (no contact) involving a female victim for an incident on April 1 in Woodstock. He returns to court for plea on April 21 at 9:30 a.m.
He also appeared in provincial court in custody via video on March 19 for a bail hearing after being arrested on a warrant. He was released on conditions at that time and scheduled for plea on April 7, when he was re-arrested.
Hatheway was also charged with breaching a court order, assault, and uttering threats and was arrested on March 17 and possession of a stolen bicycle on Oct. 3, 2025, in Woodstock, for possession of a stolen bicycle. He will enter a plea on those charges on April 21 at 9:30 a.m.
Arrested and released
James Blair Hovey, 29, of Perth Andover, appeared in provincial court in custody on April 7 for a bail hearing after being arrested on a charge of breaching his release order. He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was released with conditions. His trial date was booked for April 28, 2027, at 9:30 a.m.
Hovey also appeared in provincial court on March 31 and pleaded not guilty to five other charges laid by the RCMP. His trial date was scheduled for April 28, 2027, at 9:30 a.m.
Hovey appeared in provincial court in custody via video on March 19 for a bail hearing and was released with conditions. He was charged with resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer, possession of a stolen snowmobile, flight from police and breach of probation following an incident on Feb. 24 at Florenceville-Bristol. He has a prior criminal record.
Plea adjourned until May
Dominic (Dominique) Gagnon, 40, of Beechwood, appeared in provincial court on April 7 to answer charges laid by the RCMP. The matter was adjourned for plea until May 5 at 9:30 a.m.
Gagnon was charged by the RCMP with committing public mischief, uttering threats and resisting arrest in connection with an incident on Feb. 17 at Stickney.
Gagnon appeared in provincial court in custody via video on March 19 for a fitness hearing after being remanded for a 30-day mental health assessment at the Restigouche hospital. The accused was found fit to stand trial and was held for a bail hearing on March 20 and then released with conditions.
Trial date set
Rodney Baker, 62, of Upper Woodstock, appeared in provincial court on April 7 and pleaded not guilty to charges laid by Woodstock Police. His trial was set for May 3, 2027, at 1:30 p.m.
Baker was charged with breaching a no-contact order, resisting arrest, possession of a concealed weapon, and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace concerning an incident on Feb. 14 in Woodstock.
Returning for plea
Chad Brooker, 36, of Centreville, appeared in provincial court on April 7 for plea on an assault charge. The matter was adjourned until May 5 at 9:30 a.m. to allow him more time to consult legal counsel.
Brooker was charged by the RCMP concerning an incident on Dec. 15, 2025, in Williamstown.
At an earlier court appearance, he pleaded not guilty to sexual assault, touching a minor for a sexual purpose and invitation to sexual touching in connection with an incident between June 1 and Oct. 31, 2024, at Centreville. His trial was set for April 1-2, 2027, at 9:30 a.m. A pre-trial conference was also booked for Jan. 5, 2027, at 1:30 p.m.
Charged with impaired
Aubrey Corey, 65, of Woodstock, appeared in provincial court on April 7 and pleaded not guilty to an impaired driving charge. His trial was scheduled for June 16, 2027, at 9:30 a.m.
Corey was charged by Woodstock Police in connection with an incident on Aug. 17, 2025, in Woodstock.
Debec man charged
Bradley MacFarlane, 39, of Debec, will appear for trial in provincial court on April 12, 2027, at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to two charges laid by Woodstock Police.
MacFarlane was charged with uttering threats and dangerous driving following an incident on Oct. 24, 2025, in Woodstock. His lawyer entered a not-guilty plea on his behalf during a court appearance on April 7.
Trial on sex charges
Benjamin Greer, 27, of Weston, appeared in provincial court on April 7 for a monitoring hearing about his trial in May on sex charges laid by the RCMP. The court heard some disclosure was still pending from the Crown. Another monitoring hearing was booked for April 28 at 9:30 a.m.
Greer appeared in provincial court in custody via video on March 13, 2025, for a bail hearing and was released with conditions. He pleaded not guilty to several charges, and his trial was set for May 7, 8, and 11 at 9:30 a.m.
Greer was charged with sexual assault, touching a minor for a sexual purpose, making sexually explicit material available to a minor, invitation to sexual touching, accessing child pornography, and using a computer system to facilitate an offence in connection with incidents between Aug. 1, 2024, and Jan. 31, 2025. at Teeds Mill. He also faces an additional charge of uttering threats to a female victim. As part of his release, Greer was ordered to have no contact with the complainants. He was placed under house arrest with permission to attend work.
Trial in June for assault
Lisa Marie Barrett, 49, of Woodstock, appeared in provincial court on April 7 for a monitoring hearing about her trial in June for assault. The court heard she was still without legal counsel, so another monitoring hearing was set for May 5 at 9:30 a.m.
Barrett will be tried in provincial court on June 3 at 1:30 p.m. She pleaded not guilty to assault involving a male victim in connection with an incident on Aug. 4, 2024, at Woodstock. The charge was laid by Woodstock Police.
Barrett also appeared for sentencing in provincial court on April 1, after changing her plea to guilty to two other charges laid by the RCMP.
After hearing submissions from Crown Prosecutor Sean Corscadden and defence counsel Alex Carleton, Judge Karen Lee reserved her decision on sentence until April 17 at 1 p.m. The Crown and defence jointly recommended that Barrett serve six to eight months of house arrest and up to two years of probation.
Barrett pleaded guilty to uttering threats and obstructing the course of justice for an incident on Aug. 24, 2024, at Wicklow. The court heard she lashed out in a “moment of extreme anger” and sent threatening text messages to the complainant about not calling the police. She had no prior criminal record.
Trial on threat charge
Tammy Lloyd, 49, of Plaster Rock, appeared in provincial court on April 7 for a monitoring hearing regarding her June trial on a threat charge. She confirmed she had legal counsel to proceed to trial.
Lloyd was charged with uttering threats against another woman concerning an incident on Feb. 21, 2025, at Upper Kent. She pleaded not guilty, and her trial was scheduled for June 25 at 1:30 p.m.
Limestone incident
Steven Dolk, 54, of Moncton, will appear in provincial court on May 5 at 9:30 a.m. for plea on a sex charge laid by the RCMP.
Dolk was charged with sexual assault in connection with an incident on June 28, 2021, at Limestone. He appeared in provincial court for plea on April 7, when the matter was adjourned to the new date.
Three charged with theft
Three individuals have been charged in connection with a string of thefts in the Woodstock area. Two of the accused pleaded guilty and transferred their files to Fredericton, where they are facing other charges.
Michael Ronald McKee, 25, of Woodstock, and Bastian Kitchener Bradbury, 19, of Fredericton, will be sentenced in Fredericton on all charges on June 15.
They were charged by Woodstock Police with breaking into a woodworking shop on Searle Street in Woodstock, possession of stolen tools, possession of a stolen vehicle (a Mazda CX5), possession of break-in tools, and prowling at night on Nov. 24, 2025. Bradbury also faces a charge of wearing a mask while committing an offence.
McKee was also charged with possession of a stolen vehicle for an incident on Nov. 5, 2025, at Bedell.
Both men were also charged with theft of copper wire on Nov. 24, 2025, from the back of a truck at Wotstak (Woodstock First Nation).
Bradbury appeared in provincial court in custody via video on Feb. 5 for a bail hearing. He was released with conditions to a rehab facility near Sussex. On March 10, he was also charged with theft in connection with an incident on Nov. 24, 2025, at the Petro Canada near Meductic.
Madison Anderson, 20, of Fredericton, formerly of Plaster Rock, was charged with two counts of theft on Nov. 24, 2025, at the Petro Canada near Meductic. She is also charged in connection with a copper wire theft at Wotstak (Woodstock First Nation) on the same date. She pleaded not guilty, and a trial date was set for June 23, 2027, at 9:30 a.m.
In rehab awaiting plea
James Morgan Demerchant, 24, of Woodstock, appeared in provincial court via teleconference from rehab on April 7 to answer four charges laid against him by Woodstock Police.
Demerchant was charged with possession of methamphetamine and resisting arrest on Oct. 12, 2025, in Woodstock, and two counts of uttering threats involving a female victim on Oct. 10, 2025, in Woodstock. The matter was adjourned for plea until April 28 at 9:30 a.m.
Demerchant pleaded not guilty to nine other charges laid by Woodstock Police. His trial date was set for Jan. 27, 2027, at 9:30 a.m.
Demerchant was charged with possession of a prohibited firearm (a sawed-off shotgun) while prohibited from having it, possession of a prohibited firearm without a licence, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of two stolen passports, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, carrying a prohibited firearm, possession of a loaded prohibited firearm without a licence, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, and carrying a concealed weapon following an incident on Oct. 12, 2025, in Woodstock.
He appeared in court via video for a bail hearing in November and was released with conditions to a rehab facility in Moncton with the requirement to wear an electronic monitoring device attached to his ankle. He will remain in rehab for the next eight to 10 months.
Trial for Mapledale man
Cameron James Clark, 25, of Mapledale, appeared in provincial court on April 7 and pleaded not guilty to a second set of charges laid by the RCMP. His trial date was booked for April 23, 2027, at 1:30 p.m.
Clark was charged with breach of probation, resisting arrest, uttering threats, stalking a female victim, breaking into a dwelling house, assault with a weapon, assaulting another man, and mischief, causing property damage to a door on Sept. 17, 2025, at Mapledale.
He was also charged with stalking a female victim, dangerous driving and breach of probation on Sept. 19, 2025, in Mapledale; and breaching a release order on Oct. 21, 2025, in Woodstock. He was ordered to have no contact with the complainants. He pleaded not guilty at an earlier court appearance, and his trial was set for April 19, 2027, at 9:30 a.m.
Clark appeared in provincial court in custody by video in November for a bail hearing after being arrested for breaching his release order (ankle bracelet). He was released with conditions, including house arrest and wearing another electronic monitoring device attached to his ankle.
Multiple charges for Hamilton
Brandon Travis Hamilton, 36, of Woodstock, will appear in provincial court on May 5 at 9:30 a.m. for plea on multiple charges laid by the RCMP.
Hamilton appeared in provincial court in custody on Feb. 25 and was released with conditions. He was charged with possession of two stolen snowmobiles, dangerous driving, fleeing police, driving while suspended, possession of a firearm while prohibited from having it, careless use of a firearm, possession of a firearm without a licence, and being an occupant of a vehicle knowing it carried a firearm, in connection with an incident on Feb. 24 in Florenceville-Bristol.
Hamilton pleaded not guilty to three other charges laid by Woodstock Police. He was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and two counts of driving while suspended on June 9, 2025, in Woodstock. His trial was set for June 9, 2027, at 9:30 a.m.
More time for legal counsel
Benjamin Ian Watson, 40, of Jackson Falls, will appear in provincial court on May 5 at 9:30 a.m. for plea on two charges laid by Woodstock Police. He was scheduled for plea on April 7, when the matter was adjourned to allow him more time to secure legal counsel.
Watson was charged with assault involving a female victim and breach of a peace bond in connection with an incident on March 17 in Woodstock. He appeared in court in custody via teleconference and was released with conditions.
Facing assault charge
Nicole Lynn Sawyer, 46, of Grand Falls, appeared in provincial court on April 7 and pleaded not guilty to two charges laid by Woodstock Police. Her trial date was set for May 12, 2027, at 9:30 a.m.
Sawyer was charged with assault involving a male victim and uttering threats for an incident on Feb. 22 in Woodstock. She was released on an undertaking to appear at her next court appearance.
Trial date booked
Tanya Lloyd, 49, of Beechwood, will appear for trial in provincial court on April 28, 2027, at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to an assault charge laid by the RCMP.
Lloyd was charged with assault with a weapon (a walking stick), stemming from an incident on Jan. 5 at Beechwood. She entered her not-guilty plea on April 7.
Released until trial
Timothy Cullins, 49, of Oakland, will appear for trial in provincial court on May 19, 2027, at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to a stolen property charge laid by the RCMP.
Cullins pleaded not guilty to possession of three stolen riding lawnmowers owned by the provincial Department of Transportation and Infrastructure, stemming from an incident on Sept. 2, 2025, in Oakland.
Cullins appeared in provincial court in custody via teleconference on March 17 after being arrested on a warrant for failing to appear on Feb. 17. He was released with conditions until his trial.
Charged with assault
Amy Rennie, 42, of Woodstock, appeared in provincial court on April 7 and pleaded not guilty to an assault charge laid by the RCMP. Her trial was scheduled for May 10, 2027, at 1:30 p.m.
Rennie was charged with assaulting a male victim on Jan. 3 in Rosedale. A monitoring date for her trial was booked for June 23 at 9:30 a.m.
