Woodstock Provincial Court: Victoria County assaults net Plaster Rock man jail time

31 months in custody on slew of charges

Yves Levesque, 37, of Plaster Rock, was sentenced on May 14 to six months in jail, in addition to the 25 months he had already served in remand on a slew of charges laid by the RCMP.

Judge Rose Campbell also placed him on 12 months of probation, which he will spend in a rehab facility after his release. Levesque was also ordered to register with the federal DNA database, and he was prohibited from owning firearms for life.

Levesque pleaded guilty to assaulting a female victim on Aug. 14, 2024, at New Denmark; guilty to assault on the same female between Oct. 1 and Oct. 27, 2024, at McLaughlin, Victoria County; guilty to uttering threats and assault by choking on Oct. 28, 2024, at Perth-Andover; guilty to uttering threats, and assault by choking on Oct. 31, 2024, at McLaughlin; guilty to assault with a weapon (a helmet), uttering threats, assault causing bodily harm, and break and enter at a dwelling house on Dec. 20, 2024, at McLaughlin; guilty to break and enter and theft, and mischief causing property damage to a shed on Dec. 21, 2024, at McLaughlin; guilty to assaulting the same female victim on Nov. 22, 2024, in Grand Falls, and breach of probation on Oct. 22, 2024, in Grand Falls. Nine other charges were withdrawn by the Crown.

Levesque must have no contact with the victim. He had a prior criminal record.

50 days or time served

Brodey O’Donnell, 23, of Campbell Settlement, appeared in provincial court in custody on May 15 and changed his plea to guilty on two charges. He was sentenced to 50 days in jail or time served and was released from custody.

Judge Rose Campbell also placed him on probation for 12 months. The court heard he had other charges in Edmundston, which led to his arrest in January.

O’Donnell pleaded guilty to breach of a release order on Sept. 26, 2025, at Campbell Settlement and resisting arrest on Aug. 19, 2025, at the Woodstock courthouse. He had a prior criminal record.

O’Donnell was also charged by the RCMP with assaulting police, uttering threats, and resisting arrest for another incident on July 17, 2025, at Campbell Settlement. He was scheduled for trial on the matter when the Crown called no evidence, and Campbell received a directed verdict of not guilty.

Fine and probation

Jarrett Waugh, 32, of Beardsley Road, appeared in provincial court for sentencing on May 13 after changing his plea to guilty on one charge laid by the RCMP. He was fined $2,600 and placed on 18 months’ probation.

Waugh was charged with criminal harassment through repeated electronic messages between May 17 and July 16, 2025, at McKenna. He was ordered to have no contact with the complainant.

Remanded for bail hearing

Marshall Turner, 25, of Beaconsfield, appeared in provincial court in custody via teleconference on May 14 to answer new charges laid by the RCMP. He was remanded to jail to await a virtual bail hearing on May 15.

Turner was charged with two counts of breaching a release order and breach of probation on May 7 at Wilmot, as well as breaching a release order and breach of probation on April 8 at Wilmot.

He also appeared in provincial court on March 24 and pleaded not guilty to several other charges laid by the RCMP. His trial dates were set for April 21-22, 2027, at 9:30 a.m.

Turner pleaded not guilty to breaching his release order (ankle bracelet) on Feb. 16 in Wilmot; driving while prohibited on Oct. 29, 2025, at Lakeville; possession of a stolen utility trailer, driving while prohibited and breaking into a barn on Nov. 17, 2025, at Meductic. He has a prior criminal record.

In custody awaiting sentencing

Nicholas Hamilton, 31, of Richmond Corner, will appear in provincial court in custody for sentencing on May 19 at 1:30 p.m. after pleading guilty to six charges laid by the RCMP.

Hamilton pleaded guilty to flight from police, dangerous driving, possession of a firearm while prohibited from having it, possession of a firearm without a licence (a shotgun and rifle), driving while suspended, and transporting firearms in a careless manner. Another firearm charge was withdrawn by the Crown.

The charges were laid following a police chase on Jan. 13 in Lindsay, during which a spike belt was used to stop a speeding half-ton truck. Hamilton was denied bail on Jan. 15.

Juniper man to stand trial

Jeffrey Pike, 30, of Juniper, appeared for trial in provincial court on May 13 after pleading not guilty to two sets of charges laid by the RCMP. His trial was adjourned until June 10 at 9:30 a.m. He was released on an undertaking until his trial.

Pike was charged with two counts of assault involving a female victim on Dec. 25, 2024, and Dec. 27, 2024, at Juniper; assault with a weapon (a dresser), and uttering threats between Dec. 25, 2024 and Dec. 27, 2024, at Juniper.

Pike was also charged with two counts of breaching an undertaking (no-contact order) on Feb. 7 and Feb. 9 at Juniper, and with breach of an undertaking and obstructing the course of justice on Feb. 10 at Juniper. He was ordered to have no contact with the complainant as part of his release.

Richmond woman charged

Sheena Ross, 37, of Richmond Settlement, appeared for trial in provincial court on May 14 after pleading not guilty to charges laid by the RCMP. Her trial was adjourned until Sept. 28 at 1:30 p.m. due to a late disclosure of evidence from the Crown.

Ross was charged with assaulting another woman, uttering threats, and committing mischief concerning an incident on Feb. 11, 2025, at Perth-Andover.

Trial adjourned

Christopher Thomas O’Keefe, 27, of Fielding, appeared for trial in provincial court in custody on May 11 after pleading not guilty to charges laid by the RCMP. The matter was adjourned for a hearing on May 27 at 9:30 a.m.

O’Keefe was charged by the RCMP with sexual assault in connection with an incident on Feb. 26, 2023, at Upper Brighton, and failing to report his whereabouts to the national sex offender registry on Jan. 9 in Woodstock.

O’Keefe pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to appear for trial in December. His sentencing was adjourned until after his trial.

Trial on assault charges

A trial got underway in provincial court on May 15 for Kevin Smith, 48, of Hartley Settlement, who pleaded not guilty to three charges laid by the RCMP. Testimony continued throughout the day.

Smith was charged with two counts of assault and uttering threats concerning an incident on July 22 at Juniper.

Trial adjourned until August

Brandon Williamson, 30, of Fredericton, appeared for trial in provincial court on May 14 after pleading not guilty to assault. The trial was adjourned until Aug. 5 at 1:30 p.m. due to a late disclosure from the Crown.

Williamson was charged by the RCMP with assault involving a female victim, stemming from an incident on March 5, 2025, at Plaster Rock.
