Woodstock Provincial Court: Gun and drug charges keep pair in custody

Trial dates set for late July, August, and November

Samuel Robert Crewe, 31, and Timothy Brian Wheelan, 39, both of Jacksonville, appeared in provincial court in custody on July 7 for a pre-trial hearing about a number of charges related to guns and drugs.

The two local men will appear for trial in provincial court later this month after pleading not guilty to charges laid by local police. Their trial dates were set for July 27 at 9:30 a.m., Aug. 10 and Aug. 13 at 9:30 a.m., and Nov. 13 at 9:30 a.m.  Another pre-trial conference was booked for Aug. 7.

The RCMP charged the two men with possession of methamphetamine and ecstasy for the purpose of trafficking in connection with incidents between June 1 and June 13, 2025, in Jacksonville. With the consent of the Crown, two other drug charges were reduced on July 7 to indictable possession of cocaine and fentanyl.

Wheelan also pleaded not guilty to 42 related gun charges laid by Woodstock Police. Crewe pleaded not guilty to 13 gun charges related to the same incident in June 2025. They return to court in custody on July 10 at 9:30 a.m. for a monitoring hearing. Wheelan’s lawyer, Annie Maltais, told the court she would seek a global resolution with the Crown regarding amended charges.

Wheelan appeared for trial in provincial court in custody on June 18 and changed his plea to guilty on breaching his curfew on Sept. 23, 2025, at Carlingford; and guilty to breach of an undertaking (no weapons), possession of a stolen utility trailer, and resisting arrest on Nov. 17, 2025, at Meductic. Three more charges were withdrawn by the Crown. A date for his sentencing will be set on July 10 at 9:30 a.m.

Wheelan was denied bail on Nov. 20, 2025. He has another trial set for July 10 at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to a threat charge from April 10, 2025, and two threat charges and breach of a peace bond on Aug. 12, 2025, in Woodstock. The court heard another resolution is being sought with the Crown.

Crewe was sentenced to three years in federal prison, minus time served, when he appeared in provincial court via video in custody on Jan. 26. He pleaded guilty to a raft of drug and theft charges, as well as driving offences, laid by Woodstock Police and the RCMP.  He had a prior criminal record.

Sentencing in September

Jacob Richard Sewell, 34, of Wotstak (Woodstock First Nation), will appear for sentencing in provincial court on Sept. 21 at 9:30 a.m. after changing his plea to guilty on a drug charge. He appeared in court on July 8 when the sentencing date was confirmed.

Sewell was charged with two counts of trafficking in cocaine in connection with incidents on April 24 and May 2, 2025, in Woodstock. The court heard Sewell was caught selling cocaine to an undercover police officer during two incidents. With the consent of the Crown, the two counts were rolled into one trafficking charge.

He also appeared in court on June 12 for a fitness hearing after completing a 20-day mental health assessment at the Restigouche Hospital. Sewell was found fit according to a medical report. He is also facing an assault charge and a threat charge.

Fine and probation

Leah Driscoll, 45, of Neqotkuk (Tobique First Nation), was fined $1,120 and placed on 12 months of probation when she appeared for sentencing in provincial court on July 7. The court heard she also spent 18 days in jail after her arrest.

Driscoll pleaded guilty to willfully neglecting an animal (two dogs) under the SPCA Act on July 23, 2023, at Neqotkuk; guilty to resisting arrest between July 23, 2023, and April 29, 2024; and guilty to breaching a release order between April 29, 2024, and May 26, 2024, in Woodstock. Three other charges were withdrawn by the Crown. She had a prior criminal record.

Arrest warrant issued

The court issued an arrest warrant for Trevor Lee Crain, 50, of Killoween, after he failed to appear for trial in provincial court on two charges on July 8.

Crain pleaded not guilty to breaking into a residence and committing sexual assault on a female victim for an incident between May 1, 2023, and May 23, 2023, at Moose Mountain.

He appeared in provincial court on April 21 for sentencing on several charges laid by the RCMP. The sentencing was adjourned until his trial on other matters on July 8, but he did not appear.

Crain spent five months in remand before being released from custody in August 2025 to await sentencing after changing his plea.

He pleaded guilty to one count of breaching his release order (house arrest) in connection with three incidents between Jan. 30 and Feb. 7 at Beechwood.

He also pleaded guilty to possession of a prohibited weapon (brass knuckles) and breach of a release order in connection with an incident on July 1, 2024, at Killoween. Another charge of resisting arrest was withdrawn by the Crown.

Crain also pleaded guilty to possession of a stolen dirt bike on May 25, 2024, and guilty to breaching his release order by failing to appear in court on July 11, 2023.

He pleaded guilty to unlawful entry at a dwelling house and breaching an undertaking on June 15, 2023, at Moose Mountain, and committing an assault involving a female victim on June 11, 2023, at Killoween.

Closing submissions

Jeffrey Richard Bull, 45, of Newburg, appeared in provincial court for the continuation of his trial on July 3 after pleading not guilty to hitting another man with a baseball bat.

After Bull’s testimony, the trial was adjourned for closing submissions on July 16 at 1:30 p.m.

Bull was charged by Woodstock Police with aggravated assault and breach of probation concerning an incident on Sept. 8, 2024, at 2 a.m. when a man suffered a broken elbow after being struck by a bat on St. James Street in Woodstock.

During the trial, the male victim testified he was home partying with friends when Bull began yelling about the noise from across the street. The man said he approached Bull to talk to him when the alleged attack occurred. He said he fainted after being hit with the bat as Bull left the scene.

Facing two charges

Stephanie L. Hardy, 59, of Lake George, will appear in provincial court on Aug. 18 at 9:30 a.m. for plea on two charges.

Hardy was charged with defrauding the federal government and fraudulent impersonation in connection with incidents in Woodstock between June 19, 2021, and Sept. 21, 2024, and between June 19, 2021, and May 1, 2025. She made her first court appearance on July 7 when the matter was adjourned to the new date.

Trial adjourned

Kyle Evans, 40, of Carlingford, will appear for trial in provincial court on Oct. 1 at 1:30 p.m. after pleading not guilty to an assault charge.

Evans was charged by RCMP following an incident on April 1, 2025, in Aroostook. He appeared in court on July 6 for a monitoring hearing, during which his trial was rescheduled from Aug. 31 to the new date at the request of his new lawyer.

Plea date for assault

Jesse Grant, 33, of Green Road, will appear in provincial court on July 21 at 9:30 a.m. for plea on an assault charge laid by Woodstock Police.

Grant was charged in connection with an incident on April 17 in Woodstock. Defence Counsel Peter Crocco appeared on his behalf on June 30 when the matter was adjourned for plea.

File transferred

Christopher Isaiah Eatmon, 31, of Woodstock, appeared for trial in provincial court on July 8 after pleading not guilty to four charges laid by Woodstock Police. The accused requested the charges be transferred to Fredericton for guilty pleas.

Eatmon was charged with two counts of forgery related to a First Nations status card; identity theft, and fraudulent impersonation for an incident on Oct. 7, 2024, in Woodstock. A monitoring date was set for Oct. 6 at 9:30 a.m. to confirm the file has been transferred to the Fredericton court.

Plea adjourned

Tina Noella Albert, 54, of Upper Kintore, will appear in provincial court on Aug. 4 at 9:30 a.m. for plea on a threat charge laid by the RCMP.

Albert was charged with uttering threats against another woman in connection with an incident on April 13 at Craig’s Flat near Perth-Andover. She made her first court appearance on July 7 when the matter was adjourned to allow more time for disclosure from the Crown.

Not-guilty plea

William Allen, 55, of Woodstock, will appear for trial in provincial court on April 23, 2027, at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to an assault charge laid by Woodstock Police.

Allen was charged with assault involving a female victim stemming from an incident on May 19 in Woodstock. He entered his not-guilty plea at a court appearance on July 7.  A monitoring date for his trial was set for Jan. 26, 2027, at 9:30 a.m.

Refusing a breathalyzer

Joseph Leo Richard, 60, of Belleville, will appear for trial in provincial court on Jan. 4, 2027, at 9:30 a.m., after pleading not guilty to a breathalyzer charge. A monitoring hearing on July 7 confirmed he has legal counsel to proceed to trial.

Richard was charged by RCMP with refusing a breathalyzer demand in connection with an incident on Dec. 24, 2024, in Pembroke. He pleaded not guilty and a trial date was set for March, but it was later adjourned.

Assault with staple gun

Lorie Brooks, 71, of Perth-Andover, will appear for trial in provincial court on Aug. 6, 2027, at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to two charges laid by RCMP.

Brooks was charged with assault with a weapon (a staple gun) and mischief causing property damage to a door concerning an incident on March 9 in Bath. She entered her not-guilty plea at a court appearance on July 7.

Trial date set

Joseph Diamond, 43, of Woodstock, appeared in provincial court on July 7 for a monitoring hearing about his trial on a sex charge. The court heard he will have legal counsel to proceed to trial.

Diamond pleaded not guilty, and his trial date was scheduled for Aug. 19 at 9:30 a.m. He was charged by Woodstock Police with sexual assault involving a minor in connection with an incident on April 27, 2024, in Woodstock. A pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Aug. 6 at 9:30 a.m.

Awaiting disclosure

Tanna Wright, 29, of Perth-Andover, will appear in provincial court on July 28 at 9:30 a.m. for plea on several charges. She appeared in court on July 7, when the matter was adjourned to allow further disclosure by the Crown.

Wright appeared in provincial court via video in custody on May 29 for a bail hearing and was released with conditions.  She was charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, committing mischief, and two counts of breach of probation. She was arrested on April 28 and remanded.

At the request of her lawyer, she was sent for a 30-day mental health assessment at the Restigouche Hospital. She was found fit to stand trial according to her medical report.

Flight from police

Travis Delong, 45, of Williamstown, will appear for trial in provincial court on July 29, 2027, at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to one charge laid by the RCMP.

Delong was charged with failing to stop for police in connection with an incident on Feb. 4 at Florenceville-Bristol. He entered his not-guilty plea at a court appearance on July 7.

Plea on sex charge

John Travis Martin, 47, of Belleville, will appear in provincial court on July 14 at 9:30 a.m. for plea on a sex charge laid by local police.

Martin was charged with sexual assault in connection with an incident on June 26, 2017, in Woodstock. He appeared in court on July 7 when the matter was adjourned at the request of his legal counsel.

Arrested and released

Allison Lee Demerchant, 67, of Florenceville-Bristol, will appear in provincial court on July 14 at 9:30 a.m. for plea on three charges laid by the RCMP.

Demerchant was charged with break and enter at a dwelling house, committing mischief, and breach of an undertaking following an incident in Florenceville-Bristol. He appeared in court via video in custody for a bail hearing on June 2 and was released with conditions. On July 7, he told the court he had hired a lawyer for his next court appearance.

Returning for plea

Marshall Turner, 25, of Beaconsfield, appeared in provincial court on July 7 to enter a plea to several charges laid by the RCMP. The matter was adjourned until July 28 at 9:30 a.m. to allow him more time to consult legal counsel.

Turner appeared in provincial court in custody on May 15 for a bail hearing and was released with conditions.

He was charged with flight from police and breach of probation on May 14 in Wilmot; two counts of breach of a release order and breach of probation on May 7 in Wilmot; and breach of a release order and breach of probation on April 8 in Wilmot.

He also appeared in provincial court on March 24 and pleaded not guilty to several other charges laid against him by the RCMP. His trial dates were set for April 21-22, 2027, at 9:30 a.m.

Turner pleaded not guilty to breaching his release order (ankle bracelet) on Feb. 16 in Wilmot; driving while prohibited on Oct. 29, 2025, at Lakeville; possession of a stolen utility trailer, driving while prohibited and breaking into a barn on Nov. 17, 2025, at Meductic. He has a prior criminal record.

Nabbed for impaired

Michael David Watson, 47, of Woodstock, will appear for trial in provincial court on Aug. 13, 2027, at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to two charges laid by Woodstock Police.

Watson was charged with impaired driving and refusing a breathalyzer following an incident on Feb. 14 in Woodstock. He entered his not-guilty plea on July 7.

Limestone incident

Steven Dolk, 54, of Moncton, will appear in provincial court on July 29 at 9:30 a.m. for plea on a sex charge laid by the RCMP.

Dolk was charged with sexual assault in connection with an incident on June 28, 2021, at Limestone. He was scheduled to enter a plea on July 7 when his lawyer appeared via teleconference on his behalf and requested an adjournment to allow more time to consult with the accused.

Moved to alternative measures

Dominique Smith, 28, of Woodstock, appeared in provincial court on July 7 for plea on an obstruction charge laid by Woodstock Police. The matter was moved to the alternative measures program.

Smith was charged with obstructing police in connection with an incident on Jan. 30 in Woodstock. She has until Nov. 10 at 9:30 a.m. to complete the program requirements to have the charge withdrawn.

Monitoring hearing

Elizabeth Alice Davidson, 55, of Nackawic, appeared in provincial court on July 7 to set a date for her trial on charges laid by Woodstock Police. The matter was adjourned until July 29 at 9:30 a.m. to allow her time to secure new legal counsel.

Davidson was charged by Woodstock Police with breach of probation and mischief causing property damage on May 26, 2025, at the Valley Food Bank on Houlton Road. She pleaded not guilty.

Awaiting plea on three charges

Noah Saulis, 24, of Neqotkuk (Tobique First Nation), will appear in provincial court on July 28 at 9:30 a.m. for plea on three charges laid by the RCMP. He was scheduled to enter a plea on July 7, when the matter was adjourned at his lawyer’s request.

Saulis was charged with assault and two counts of breaching his release order on April 28. He was arrested and released on conditions following a bail hearing.

He also appeared in provincial court on Feb. 17 and pleaded not guilty to two other charges laid by the RCMP. His trial was set for March 19, 2027, at 9:30 a.m.

Saulis appeared in provincial court via teleconference in custody on Feb. 6 and was released with conditions. He was charged with breaching a no-contact order on Feb. 5 at Aroostook and assaulting a female victim on Dec. 13, 2025, at Aroostook. His plea was adjourned until July 28 at 9:30 a.m.

He will also appear for trial in provincial court on Dec. 21 at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to another assault charge laid by the RCMP. Saulis was charged with assaulting another man on June 20, 2025, at Perth-Andover.

Wotstak man awaits sentencing

Takoda Louis Lee Christian, 20, of Wotstak (Woodstock First Nation), appeared in provincial court in custody for trial on July 6 and changed his plea to guilty on two charges laid by RCMP.

Christian was charged with assaulting another man with a weapon (a knife), uttering threats and mischief causing property damage to a window in connection with an incident on April 8, 2025, in Lansdowne. He pleaded guilty to the threat charge, and the remaining two charges were withdrawn by the Crown.

He also pleaded guilty to breach of a release order (no contact) for another incident on May 9-10, 2025, at Wotstak. A date for his sentencing will be set on July 15 at 1:30 p.m.

On Monday, the court heard Christian was in custody on new charges after being arrested on June 29. A bail hearing was scheduled for this week.

Christian was also charged with breach of a no-contact order on April 14, 2025, in Wotstak. He pleaded guilty to the breach, and a sentencing date will be set on July 15 at 9:30 a.m., when he also has matters set for trial.

Christian pleaded not guilty to assault causing bodily harm, mischief, and uttering threats concerning an incident on March 25, 2025, at the AYR Motor Centre. Woodstock. Police said a 16-year-old victim suffered significant injuries in the incident and was transported to the Upper River Valley Hospital for treatment.

The Crown withdrew other charges laid against him by Woodstock Police stemming from an assault outside the Royal Canadian Legion on Nov. 14, 2024. Police were called to the scene, and a man was transported to hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Trial pending on multiple charges

Gabriel John Tomah, 22, of Neqotkuk (Tobique First Nation), appeared in provincial court on July 7 for a pre-trial conference after pleading not guilty to multiple charges laid by RCMP.

Tomah’s trial dates were confirmed for Oct. 8-9, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., Nov. 2, 2026, and Nov. 5, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. He was charged by the RCMP with sexual assault, assault causing bodily harm, pointing a firearm at another person, and possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence.

He appeared in court in custody on May 7, 2025, for a bail hearing and was released with conditions, including the requirement to wear an electronic monitoring device attached to his ankle.
