Attempted murder charge in Centreville incident
A Saint John man appeared in provincial court in custody by video on Aug. 4 to answer a charge of attempted murder.
Gawayne Green, 34, was charged with attempted murder by stabbing another man several times with a knife on July 10 in Centreville. He was remanded after a bail hearing and will return to court in custody for plea on Aug. 31 at 1:30 p.m. He was ordered to have no contact with several complainants named in the case.
Remanded for bail hearing
Ronald David Whitfield, 29, of Woodstock, appeared in provincial court in custody via teleconference on Aug. 4 after being arrested by Woodstock Police on seven new charges. Judge Rose Campbell remanded him to jail to await a bail hearing on Aug. 6 at 9:30 a.m.
Whitfield was charged with breaching a no-contact order between June 8 and Aug. 2 in Woodstock; unlawful confinement, assaulting a female victim, uttering threats, and assault by choking on Aug. 2; and two counts of assaulting the same woman on July 21 and July 24 in Woodstock.
He also appeared in provincial court on July 28 to answer nine other charges laid by Woodstock Police. The matter was adjourned for plea until Aug. 18 at 9:30 a.m.
Whitfield was charged with uttering threats and assault with a weapon involving a female victim on April 7 in Woodstock; two counts of possession of a firearm without a licence, pointing a firearm (a pump-action shotgun), possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence, carelessly carrying a firearm, and improper storage of a firearm on April 8 in Woodstock; and assault on a female victim on April 10 in Woodstock.
He is also awaiting a plea on Aug. 18 on another set of firearm charges laid by Woodstock Police. Whitfield appeared in provincial court in custody via video on June 8 for a bail hearing and was released with conditions following his arrest during a police operation on Elm Street in Woodstock on June 2.
He was charged with possession of a firearm without a licence, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, and carelessly carrying a firearm.
Woodstock Police laid the charges after executing a search warrant at a residence on Elm Street when a firearm and a quantity of ammunition were seized. The seizure was conducted in cooperation with the Fredericton Police Force Emergency Response Team. Police said specialized tactics, including specialty munitions, were utilized to bring the operation to a safe and swift conclusion.
Kingsclear man in custody
Callum James McGraw, 38, of Kingsclear, appeared in provincial court in custody via video on July 31 to answer 10 charges laid by Woodstock Police. The matter was adjourned for plea until Aug. 31 at 9:30 a.m.
McGraw was charged with assault by choking, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of assault causing bodily harm, sexual assault, unlawful confinement, uttering threats, theft of a vehicle and theft of credit cards. The charges relate to a series of incidents in Woodstock on Dec. 23, 2025; Feb. 1-28; April 27; May 9-10; June 1-7; and June 26. McGraw has a lengthy prior criminal record and remains in custody after a bail hearing in Fredericton.
Remanded after bail hearing
Jeffrey Pike, 30, of Juniper, appeared in provincial court in custody via video on Aug. 4 for plea on two charges laid by the RCMP. The matter was adjourned until Aug. 11 at 1:30 p.m.
Pike was charged with breach of a no-contact order and being at large on a release order concerning an incident on June 15 in Juniper. He was remanded after a bail hearing on July 7.
Pike also appeared in provincial court on June 15 to set a new trial date after pleading not guilty to two sets of other charges laid by the RCMP. His trial was rescheduled for Nov. 6 at 1:30 p.m.
Pike was charged with two counts of assault involving a female victim on Dec. 25, 2024, and Dec. 27, 2024, at Juniper; assault with a weapon (a dresser), and uttering threats between Dec. 25, 2024 and Dec. 27, 2024, at Juniper.
Pike was also charged with two counts of breaching an undertaking (no contact order) on Feb. 7 and Feb. 9 at Juniper; and breach of an undertaking and obstructing the course of justice on Feb. 10 at Juniper. He was ordered to have no contact with the complainant.
Charge withdrawn
Tristan Alexander Calhoun, 38, of Woodstock, appeared for trial in provincial court on July 31 after pleading not guilty to assault.
Calhoun was charged by Woodstock Police with assaulting a woman, stemming from an incident between March 31 and Oct. 30, 2024, in Woodstock. The Crown withdrew the charge, and the trial was cancelled.
He also pleaded not guilty to another charge of breaching a no-contact order, and his trial was scheduled for May 8, 2027, at 9:30 a.m.
Sentencing on two charges
Joshua Matthew Jarrett, 39, of Woodstock, will appear for sentencing in provincial court in custody on Aug 5 at 9:30 a.m. on two charges laid by RCMP.
Jarrett pleaded guilty to theft of a truck and flight from police on Feb. 5 in East Brighton. The Crown withdrew three other charges. He appeared in court in custody in March for a bail hearing and was released on conditions, but was later arrested in Fredericton on other matters.
Jarrett was also charged with mischief causing property damage to an ankle bracelet on March 12 in Woodstock. He returns to court in custody for plea on Aug. 5 at 9:30 a.m. He will also enter a plea on another charge of obstructing police on Sept. 25, 2025, at Dow Settlement.
East Brighton man charged
William Perley Trecartin, 57, of East Brighton, appeared in provincial court on Aug. 4 and pleaded not guilty to two charges laid by the Woodstock Police. His trial date was set for Aug. 20, 2027, at 9:30 a.m.
Trecartin was charged with impaired driving and driving while suspended following an incident on Feb. 28 in Woodstock. A monitoring hearing was booked for Feb. 2, 2027, at 9:30 a.m. to confirm he has counsel to proceed to trial.
Coldstream man facing sex charges
Donald Grant Ealey, 66, of Coldstream, appeared in provincial court on Aug. 4 for plea on three sex charges laid by the RCMP. His defence counsel requested a 30-day mental health assessment for criminal responsibility, and the matter was adjourned until Sept. 3 at 1:30 p.m. for a hearing.
Ealey was charged with sexual assault, touching for a sexual purpose, and engaging a minor in sexual activity in connection with incidents between May 1, 2025, and Feb. 2, 2026, at Howard Brook. The accused was not remanded for the mental health assessment, which will be conducted out of custody.
Chipman man fined
Hunter Michael Kilfillen, 26, of Chipman, appeared in provincial court on Aug. 4 and pleaded guilty to a breathalyzer charge laid by Woodstock Police. He was fined $2,500 and was prohibited from driving for one year.
Kilfillen was charged with refusing a breathalyzer and mischief for interfering with a police camera, in connection with an incident on Jan. 5 in Woodstock. The Crown withdrew the mischief charge. Kilfillen had a prior criminal record but no previous convictions for drunk driving.
Found guilty after trial
Paul Allingham, 48, of Enterprise in Victoria County, was found guilty after trial on an assault charge when he appeared in provincial court for a verdict on Aug. 4. Judge Rose Campbell set his sentencing date for Nov. 10 at 1:30 p.m.
Allingham was charged with assaulting another man in connection with a dispute with a neighbour on Sept. 17, 2024, near Plaster Rock. The court heard the incident escalated into a physical altercation and was caught on video.
Conditional discharge, probation
Riley Patrick Michaud, 23, of Woodstock, received a conditional discharge and eight months of probation when he appeared for sentencing in provincial court on Aug. 4 on a charge laid by Woodstock Police. He was also fined $100.
Michaud pleaded guilty to breaching a no-contact order involving a female in connection with an incident on Oct. 2, 2024, in Woodstock. He had no prior criminal record. Judge Rose Campbell noted Michaud had a strong work record and good prospects for his future.
Five charges for Mactaquac woman
Andrea Ledger, 19, of Mactaquac, will appear in provincial court on Sept. 1 at 9:30 a.m. to answer five charges laid by RCMP and Woodstock Police.
Ledger was charged with flight from police, dangerous driving and theft of gas on April 30 at Florenceville-Bristol. Woodstock Police charged her with possession of a stolen vehicle and theft of a motor vehicle from Legacy Ford on Connell Street. She made her first court appearance on Aug. 4 when the matter was adjourned for plea to the new date.
Trial in September
Samuel Martin, 46, of Plaster Rock, will appear for trial in provincial court on Sept. 21 at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to an assault charge laid by RCMP.
Martin was charged with assault causing bodily harm to another man concerning an incident on March 30, 2025, in Plaster Rock. A monitoring hearing was held on Aug. 4 to confirm counsel, but Martin failed to appear, and a warrant was held on file.
Facing sex charge
Mitchell Michael Diamond, 21, of Woodstock, will appear in provincial court on Sept. 1 at 9:30 a.m. for a plea on a sex charge laid by Woodstock Police.
Diamond was charged with sexual assault in connection with an incident on Aug. 9, 2025, in Woodstock. He appeared in court on Aug. 4 when the matter was adjourned to allow him more time to secure legal counsel.
Not-guilty plea
Trevor MacDonald, 52, of Upper Woodstock, appeared in provincial court on Aug. 4 and pleaded not guilty to two charges laid by the RCMP. His trial date was set for July 29, 2027, at 1:30 p.m.
MacDonald was charged with flight from police and dangerous driving in connection with an incident on Feb. 27 in Meductic. He entered his not-guilty plea at a court appearance on Aug. 4.
Victoria County man awaiting trial
Ian McLaughlin, 33, of Morrell Siding, appeared in provincial court on Aug. 4 and pleaded not guilty to several charges laid by the RCMP. His trial was scheduled for Aug. 26-27, 2027, at 9:30 a.m.
McLaughlin was charged with breach of an undertaking, assault, committing mischief, possession of a firearm without a licence and unauthorized possession of a loaded firearm concerning incidents on March 22 and April 20 in Victoria County. Following his arrest, he was held in custody for a bail hearing and released with conditions. A monitoring hearing was also booked for Feb. 2, 2027, at 9:30 a.m. to confirm he has counsel to proceed to trial.
Awaiting plea and trial
Chad Brooker, 36, of Centreville, will appear in provincial court on Aug. 25 at 9:30 a.m. for plea on three charges laid by the RCMP. He was scheduled to enter a plea on Aug. 4 when the matter was adjourned to allow him time to get a new lawyer.
Brooker was charged with assault in connection with an incident on Dec. 15, 2025, in Williamstown; theft of a snowmobile on Jan. 10 in Hartland; and possession of a stolen snowmobile on Jan. 11 in Hartland.
At an earlier court appearance, he pleaded not guilty to sexual assault, touching a minor for a sexual purpose and invitation to sexual touching in connection with an incident between June 1 and Oct. 31, 2024, at Centreville. His trial was set for April 1-2, 2027, at 9:30 a.m. A pre-trial conference was also booked for Jan. 5, 2027, at 1:30 p.m.
Plea on firearm charges
Shawn Johnston, 47, of Mainstream, will appear in provincial court on Aug. 25 at 9:30 a.m. to answer several firearm charges laid by the RCMP.
Johnston was charged with careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a prohibited weapon, concerning an incident on June 9 at Mainstream. He appeared in court on Aug. 4 when the matter was adjourned at the request of his defence counsel.
Plea adjourned
Tina Noella Albert, 54, of Upper Kintore, will appear in provincial court on Aug. 25 at 9:30 a.m. for plea on a threat charge laid by the RCMP.
Albert was charged with uttering threats against another woman in connection with an incident on April 13 at Craig’s Flat near Perth-Andover. She appeared in court on Aug. 4 when the matter was adjourned to allow the Crown more time to file her disclosure.
More charges for Wotstak man
Takoda Louis Lee Christian, 20, of Wotstak (Woodstock First Nation), appeared in provincial court in custody via video on Aug. 4 and pleaded not guilty to four charges laid by the RCMP. His trial dates were set for Nov. 19 at 1:30 p.m. and Nov. 20 at 9:30 a.m.
Christian was charged with uttering threats, committing mischief, and two counts of breaching a release order stemming from an incident on June 28.
He will also appear in provincial court in custody on Aug. 10 at 1:30 p.m. for the continuation of his trial related to an assault at the AYR Motor Centre in Woodstock. The first day of testimony took place on July 15.
Christian pleaded not guilty to assault causing bodily harm, mischief, and uttering threats concerning an incident on March 25, 2025. Police said a 16-year-old victim suffered significant injuries in the incident and was transported to the Upper River Valley Hospital for treatment.
Christian appeared in provincial court in custody on July 6 and changed his plea to guilty on other charges laid by the RCMP.
Christian was charged with assaulting another man with a weapon (a knife), uttering threats and mischief causing property damage to a window in connection with an incident on April 8, 2025, in Lansdowne. He pleaded guilty to the threat charge, and the Crown withdrew the remaining two charges.
He also pleaded guilty to breach of a release order (no contact) for another incident on May 9-10, 2025, at Wotstak. Christian was also charged with breach of a no-contact order on April 14, 2025, in Wotstak. He pleaded guilty, and a sentencing date will be set after his trial concludes in August.
Guilty of assault
Mitchell Hillman, 36, of Wilmot, will appear for sentencing in provincial court on Sept. 18 at 9 a.m. after being found guilty after trial on an assault charge laid by Woodstock Police.
Hillman was charged with assault involving a female victim and uttering threats on Sept. 16, 2024, in Woodstock. The Crown withdrew the threat charge, and his trial went ahead regarding the assault.
Hillman pleaded not guilty to mischief, dangerous driving, flight from police, and obstruction in connection with another incident on March 13, 2025, in Woodstock. He failed to appear for trial, and the court issued an arrest warrant. He was later released from custody, and a new trial date was booked for October.
On Aug. 4, he appeared in court when another monitoring hearing was booked for Aug. 25 at 9:30 a.m. to confirm he has counsel to proceed to trial.
Remanded until trial
Trevor Lee Crain, 50, of Killoween, appeared in provincial court in custody via video on Aug. 4 for plea on a charge of failing to appear in court for his trial. The matter was adjourned for plea until Aug. 17 at 1:30 p.m.
Crain appeared in provincial court in custody via video on July 13 after being arrested on warrant. He was denied bail and remanded to jail to await his new trial date on Oct. 2 at 9:30 a.m.
Crain pleaded not guilty to breaking into a residence and committing sexual assault on a female victim for an incident between May 1, 2023, and May 23, 2023, at Moose Mountain. The court heard a resolution may be sought with the Crown.
He is also awaiting sentencing on several other charges laid by the RCMP. The sentencing was adjourned until his trial in October.
Crain spent five months in remand before being released from custody in August 2025 to await sentencing after changing his plea.
He pleaded guilty to one count of breaching his release order (house arrest) in connection with three incidents between Jan. 30 and Feb. 7 at Beechwood.
He also pleaded guilty to possession of a prohibited weapon (brass knuckles) and breach of a release order in connection with an incident on July 1, 2024, at Killoween. The Crown withdrew another charge of resisting arrest.
Crain also pleaded guilty to possession of a stolen dirt bike on May 25, 2024, and guilty to breaching his release order by failing to appear in court on July 11, 2023.
He pleaded guilty to unlawful entry at a dwelling house and breaching an undertaking on June 15, 2023, at Moose Mountain, and committing an assault involving a female victim on June 11, 2023, at Killoween.
Charged with threats, intimidation
Kristopher Thomas McConnell, 33, of Hartland, will appear for trial in provincial court on Nov. 19 at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to charges laid by the RCMP.
McConnell was scheduled to be in court for monitoring on Aug. 4 but did not appear, and a warrant was held on file. Another monitoring hearing was scheduled for Sept. 1 at 9:30 a.m. McConnell was charged with two counts of uttering threats, intimidation, and committing mischief. The court heard he is working outside the province.
Mental health assessment
Dominic (Dominique) Gagnon, 40, of Beechwood, appeared in court in custody via video on Aug. 4 and re-elected to have a trial in provincial court.
The RCMP charged Gagnon with committing public mischief, uttering threats and resisting arrest in connection with an incident on Feb. 17 at Stickney.
The court heard Gagnon was in custody at the Restigouche hospital for a 30-day mental health assessment after being arrested on a breach charge in Edmundston. On Tuesday, the accused also requested an assessment for criminal responsibility. A return date for a hearing and plea was set for Sept. 3 at 1:30 p.m.
In March, Gagnon appeared in provincial court in custody via video for a fitness hearing after being remanded for a 30-day mental health assessment at the Restigouche Hospital. The accused was found fit to stand trial at that time and was held for a bail hearing on March 20 and then released with conditions. The court heard other charges were also pending in Fredericton.
On May 26, Gagnon was also charged with trespassing at the Sanctuary House in Woodstock on Jan. 31.
Sentencing adjourned
Patrick Rattray, 30, of Woodstock, will appear in provincial court for sentencing on Oct. 13 at 1:30 p.m. after his trial on charges laid by Woodstock Police. He was scheduled for sentencing on Aug. 4 when the matter was adjourned to the new date at the request of his defence counsel.
On May 4, Judge Rose Campbell found Rattray guilty of breaching a peace bond, uttering threats, and committing mischief in connection with an incident in Woodstock on Oct. 9, 2024. The Crown withdrew an assault charge.The judge found Rattray not guilty of assault causing bodily harm involving a female victim, and not guilty of assault by choking in connection with an incident between Jan. 1 and Feb. 9, 2024, in Woodstock. The Crown withdrew two other charges.
