Bail hearing in attempted murder case
A Saint John man appeared in provincial court in custody via video on Aug. 31 to answer charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault.
Gawayne Green, 34, was charged with attempted murder by stabbing another man several times with a knife and committing aggravated assault on July 10 in Centreville.
Defence Counsel T.J. Burke requested a bail hearing on Sept. 2 at 1:30 p.m., and Green was booked to return to court for plea on Sept. 22 at 9:30 a.m. He was ordered to have no contact with several complainants named in the case.
Kingsclear man in custody
Callum James McGraw, 38, of Kingsclear, appeared in provincial court in custody via video on Aug. 31 to answer 10 charges laid by Woodstock Police. The matter was adjourned for plea until Sept. 21 at 9:30 a.m.
McGraw was charged with assault by choking, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of assault causing bodily harm, sexual assault, unlawful confinement, uttering threats, theft of a vehicle and theft of credit cards. The charges relate to a series of incidents in Woodstock on Dec. 23, 2025; Feb. 1-28; April 27; May 9-10; June 1-7; and June 26. McGraw has a lengthy prior criminal record and remains in custody after a bail hearing in Fredericton.
Released until sentencing
Jeffrey Pike, 30, of Juniper, appeared in provincial court in custody via video on Sept. 1 and changed his plea to guilty on four charges laid by the RCMP. He was released from custody with conditions until his sentencing on Dec. 8 at 1:30 p.m.
Pike pleaded guilty to breach of a no-contact order and being at large on a release order by breaching his curfew on June 15 in Juniper.
He also pleaded guilty to assault involving a female victim on Dec. 25, 2024, at Juniper and one count of breaching an undertaking (no-contact order) between Feb. 7 and Feb. 10, 2025, at Juniper. The Crown withdrew several other charges.
Pike was released with an electronic monitoring device attached to his ankle and was placed under house arrest at a residence near Miramichi. The court heard the charges involved a domestic dispute. He was ordered to have no contact with the complainant. Pike had been in custody since his arrest and was denied bail on July 7.
Bail hearing Thursday
Shayne Everett Cameron, 33, of Woodstock, appeared in provincial court in custody via video on Sept. 1 to set a date for a bail hearing. Judge Leslie Jackson scheduled the hearing for Sept. 3 at 9:30 a.m.
Cameron appeared in provincial court in custody for a bail hearing on April 2, when he waived bail. He was charged by RCMP with possession of a firearm while prohibited from having it, flight from police, dangerous driving, two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, and breach of probation following an incident on March 29 at Perth-Andover when a spike belt was used to stop a fleeing vehicle. Cameron has a prior criminal record.
He pleaded not guilty, and his trial was booked for Nov. 16 at 9:30 a.m.
Trial adjourned
Dustin Arthur Hawksley, 29, of Greenfield, will appear for trial in provincial court on Dec. 7 at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to two charges laid by Woodstock Police.
Hawksley was charged with assault involving a female victim and breach of a peace bond following an incident on Jan. 1, 2025, in Woodstock.
He was released on an undertaking to have no contact with the complainant. His trial was scheduled for Aug. 28 but was adjourned at the request of his defence counsel.
Fined $2,300 for impaired
Keith Shawn Greer, 62, of Woodstock, appeared for trial in provincial court on Aug. 31 and changed his plea to guilty on an impaired driving charge laid by Woodstock Police.
Judge Leslie Jackson fined him $2,300 and prohibited him from driving for one year. The court heard Greer had a blood alcohol level double the legal limit when police stopped him on Water Street on April 20, 2025.
Remanded after bail hearing
Zachery Don Brooks, 21, of Lower Brighton, will appear in provincial court in custody via video on Sept. 22 at 9:30 a.m. for plea on new charges only one day after resolving several others. He was denied bail on Aug. 24 and remanded.
Brooks was charged with assault by choking involving a female victim, breach of a no-contact order, uttering threats, and assault causing bodily harm in connection with an incident on Aug. 20 in Lower Brighton. He was scheduled for plea on Sept. 1 when the matter was adjourned at the request of his defence counsel.
On Aug. 21, Brooks appeared for trial in provincial court and changed his plea to guilty on three of 14 other charges. His sentencing date was set for Dec. 8 at 1:30 p.m.
Brooks was charged with three counts of assault involving a female victim, three counts of assault by choking, one count unlawful confinement, two counts of uttering threats, assault with a weapon (a phone cord), assault while threatening to use a weapon (a knife), possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence, and two counts of breaching a release order (no contact).
The charges were laid in connection with a series of incidents on Nov. 24, 2024; Feb. 12, Feb. 17, May 28, June 9, June 10, and June 11, 2025, in Lower Brighton; and on June 3 and June 5, 2025, in Hartland.
He pleaded guilty to unlawful confinement and guilty to two counts of the lesser included offence of common assault. The Crown withdrew the remaining 11 charges. The court heard details of a woman being threatened, knocked to the ground, dragged into a house, and held at knifepoint. She was able to send a text message for help, then deleted it from her phone.
Brooks also appeared in provincial court on May 19 and pleaded not guilty to six more charges laid by the RCMP. His trial was moved up to Nov. 18 at 1:30 p.m. due to his being in custody.
He pleaded not guilty to breaching a no-contact order, uttering threats, assault involving a female victim, assault with a weapon (a broom and a board), assault by choking and mischief causing property damage to a cell phone on Oct. 28, 2025, at Lower Brighton.
Remanded until trial
Trevor Lee Crain, 50, of Killoween, will appear in provincial court in custody on Sept. 3 at 1:30 p.m. for plea on a charge of failing to appear in court for his trial. His plea was scheduled for Aug. 31 when the matter was adjourned.
Crain appeared in provincial court in custody via video on July 13 after being arrested on a warrant. He was denied bail and remanded to jail to await his new trial date on Oct. 2 at 9:30 a.m.
Crain pleaded not guilty to breaking into a residence and committing sexual assault on a female victim for an incident between May 1, 2023, and May 23, 2023, at Moose Mountain. The court heard a resolution may be sought with the Crown.
He is also awaiting sentencing on several other charges laid by the RCMP. The sentencing was adjourned until Sept. 3 at 1:30 p.m.
Crain spent five months in remand before being released from custody in August 2025 to await sentencing after changing his plea.
He pleaded guilty to one count of breaching his release order (house arrest) in connection with three incidents between Jan. 30 and Feb. 7 at Beechwood.
He also pleaded guilty to possession of a prohibited weapon (brass knuckles) and breach of a release order in connection with an incident on July 1, 2024, at Killoween. The Crown withdrew another charge of resisting arrest.
Crain also pleaded guilty to possession of a stolen dirt bike on May 25, 2024, and guilty to breaching his release order by failing to appear in court on July 11, 2023.
He pleaded guilty to unlawful entry at a dwelling house and breaching an undertaking on June 15, 2023, at Moose Mountain, and committing an assault involving a female victim on June 11, 2023, at Killoween.
Trial scheduled
Christian Cioc, 57, of Woodstock, will appear for trial in provincial court on May 20-21, 2027, at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to three charges laid by Woodstock Police.
Cioc was charged with two counts of criminal harassment between Aug. 8, 2025, and Jan. 8, 2026, and stalking a female person between Oct. 18, 2025, and Jan. 26, 2026, in Woodstock. A pre-trial conference was booked for Jan. 5 at 1:30 p.m.
On Sept. 1, he appeared in court to face a new charge of breaching a no-contact order and will return to court for plea on Sept. 22 at 9:30 a.m.
Not-guilty plea
Tanna Wright, 29, of Perth-Andover, appeared in provincial court on Sept. 1 and pleaded not guilty to several charges. Her trial date was set for Sept. 3, 2027, at 9:30 a.m.
Wright appeared in provincial court via video in custody on May 29 for a bail hearing and was released with conditions. She was charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, committing mischief, and two counts of breach of probation. She was arrested on April 28 and remanded.
Coldstream man facing sex charges
Donald Grant Ealey, 66, of Coldstream, will appear in provincial court on Sept. 3 at 1:30 p.m. for a hearing before entering a plea on three sex charges laid by the RCMP. His defence counsel requested a 30-day mental health assessment for criminal responsibility at a court appearance on Aug. 4.
Ealey was charged with sexual assault, touching for a sexual purpose, and engaging a minor in sexual activity in connection with incidents between May 1, 2025, and Feb. 2, 2026, at Howard Brook. The accused was not remanded for the mental health assessment, which was to be conducted out of custody.
Five charges for Mactaquac woman
Andrea Ledger, 19, of Mactaquac, appeared in provincial court on Sept. 1 and pleaded not guilty to five charges laid by RCMP and Woodstock Police. Her trial date was booked for Sept. 8, 2027, at 9:30 a.m.
Ledger was charged with flight from police, dangerous driving and theft of gas on April 30 at Florenceville-Bristol. Woodstock Police charged her with possession of a stolen vehicle and theft of a motor vehicle from Legacy Ford on Connell Street. A monitoring date was set for July 6, 2027, at 1:30 p.m. to confirm she will be ready to proceed to trial.
Facing sex charge
Mitchell Michael Diamond, 21, of Woodstock, will appear in provincial court on Sept. 22 at 9:30 a.m. for a plea on a sex charge laid by Woodstock Police.
Diamond was charged with sexual assault in connection with an incident on Aug. 9, 2025, in Woodstock. He appeared in court on Sept. 1 when the matter was adjourned to allow him more time to secure legal counsel.
Charged with threats, intimidation
Kristopher Thomas McConnell, 33, of Hartland, will appear for trial in provincial court on Nov. 19 at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to charges laid by the RCMP.
McConnell was scheduled to be in court for monitoring on Sept. 1 but did not appear, and a warrant was held on file. Another monitoring hearing was scheduled for Oct. 5 at 9:30 a.m. McConnell was charged with two counts of uttering threats, intimidation, and committing mischief. The court heard he is working outside the province.
Shoplifting charge
Christopher Kenneth Mean, 36, of Woodstock, appeared in provincial court on Sept. 1 to answer a shoplifting charge laid by Woodstock Police. The matter was moved to the alternative measures program.
Mean was charged with theft from the NB Liquor Store on April 4 in Woodstock. He has until Dec. 1 at 9:30 a.m. to complete the program requirements so the charge can be withdrawn.
He also appeared in provincial court on March 31 on a charge of having a stolen Husqvarna whipper snipper. He pleaded not guilty, and his trial date was set for April 23, 2027, at 9:30 a.m. Woodstock Police charged Mean with possession of stolen property on Oct. 30, 2025.
Not-guilty plea
Kerry Sheppard, 56, of Weston, will appear for trial in provincial court on Sept. 2, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to seven charges laid by the RCMP.
Sheppard was charged with assault by choking involving a female victim, assault, two counts of uttering threats, improper storage of a firearm, and possession of seven firearms without a licence in connection with an incident on June 19, 2025, at Weston.
Monitoring hearing
Dawson William Boyle, 25, of Taymouth, will appear in provincial court for a monitoring hearing on Sept. 2 at 1:30 p.m. after pleading not guilty to 10 charges laid by Woodstock Police. His trial date was booked for April 8-9, 2027, at 9:30 a.m.
Boyle was charged with multiple counts of possession of stolen property following an incident in Woodstock on Aug. 24, 2025. He also appeared in court in Saint John on Feb. 2 while in custody, in relation to separate charges in Fredericton and Moncton. A pre-trial conference was scheduled for March 9, 2027, at 1:30 p.m. to prepare for his trial on the Woodstock charges.
