Driver and passenger injured after RCMP attempted to stop vehicle

The Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) is asking the public for dash-cam video and witness information about an Oct. 13 traffic stop.

That evening, Perth-Andover RCMP attempted to stop a vehicle on Highway 130 in Perth-Andover.

In a news release, SiRT noted that the driver, an adult male, did not stop for police. The officer observed the vehicle collide with another vehicle.

The driver and female passenger of the suspect vehicle were transported to hospital and diagnosed with serious injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, an adult male, reported minor injuries.

“To aid in this investigation, SiRT is now looking for individuals who may have been on Route 130 in Perth-Andover, specifically the area of West Riverside Drive on Oct. 13, between 6 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. and witnessed the incident or are in possession of dash camera footage or any video footage or photos,” noted the release.

Anyone who may have such footage or witnessed the incident is asked to contact the investigator by emailing sirt.tips@novascotia.ca

SiRT is responsible for investigating all matters that involve death, serious injury, sexual assault and intimate partner violence or other matters of a public interest to be investigated that may have arisen from the actions of any police officer in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick. An independent civilian director directs and controls investigations and has sole authority to decide whether to lay charges at the conclusion of an investigation.
