Track record holder American History featured in a five-card afternoon racing event
On Saturday afternoon, Oct. 5, at Connell Park Raceway in Woodstock, Horse Racing New Brunswick will play host to its final live racing card of the 2024 racing season.
What a season it’s been at the picturesque track at Connell Park, where several new track records were set, including American History in 1:52. This shattered the previous mark of Chewy Gross, which has stood for decades.
Post time is 1 p.m. for the five-card afternoon, featuring a $2,500 top-class.
Leading the way is Press Time, who looks to return to a familiar place at Connell Park on Saturday – the winner’s circle. Averil Hunter trains the pacer.
Shawn MacLellan picks up the live catch drive for the Zach Cougle-owned pacer. He has won four of his five races at the half-mile track since arriving in the province.
He will have to overcome the outside post-five, with One Eight Hundred and Dr. Mitch Downey looking to beat his toughest opponent along with his stable mate Watchmaker and veteran Mike Downey in the bike.
Horse Racing New Brunswick would like to extend their appreciation to everyone involved in this season in the province and to Maritime horsemen and women who came out to support live race cards.
Wagering is available through the HPI platform, local tele-theatre locations, where available, and video streaming provided by Universum Media, the exclusive streaming provider of Maritime harness racing.
A big thank you to the sponsors who supported racing, the racing fans, the Woodstock Jockey Club for its support and the many volunteers who ensure that racing continues on a yearly basis.
New Brunswick is a crucial part of the industry’s bloodline in the Maritimes and with new programs such as the New Brunswick Breeders stakes, the industry soldiers on without government support. Thanks again from Horse Racing New Brunswick.
