Suspect remanded to custody to await further court appearances
The Woodstock Police Force arrested a man who will face several drug-related and other charges following a subsequent search of his vehicle.
In a media release of May 29, the Woodstock Police Force said members of its Integrated Enforcement Unit (IEU), assisted by the Patrol Division, arrested William Jarred O’Donnell on drug trafficking charges on May 21.
The WPF said O’Donnell will face charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, an offence listed under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Police said the Woodstock I.E.U. executed a search warrant on O’Donnell’s vehicle on May 23. They found a significant quantity of suspected methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl, money, and other items used in the illicit sale of controlled substances.
On May 27, the Woodstock provincial court laid charges against O’Donnell, including possession for the purpose of trafficking in methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl and failure to comply with a release order.
At the time of the arrest, O’Donnell was on a release order with conditions stemming from previous drug-related charges.
The Woodstock police said that the court remanded O’Donnell into custody based on the charges. He will return to court at a later date for a bail hearing.
The Woodstock Police Force noted in its release that the public can help in police investigations of drug crimes in the community.
Police ask that community members with information about the illicit sale of drugs reach out to the Woodstock Police Force Integrated Enforcement Unit at 506-325-4601 or to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.crimenb.ca
