274 days or time served, more charges pending
Trevor Lee Crain, 52, of Killoween, was sentenced to 274 days in jail, or time served, when he appeared in provincial court via video in custody on Sept. 3. He pleaded guilty to several charges laid by the RCMP and still has other matters outstanding.
Crain was released on a $1,050 bond with conditions and must return to court on Sept. 21 at 1:30 p.m. for sentencing on two additional charges. He also has a sexual assault trial scheduled for Oct. 2 at 9:30 a.m.
On Thursday, Judge Henrik Tonning released Crain with a stern warning to appear in court as required or face a severe jail sentence. The judge ordered Crain to wear an electronic monitoring device attached to his ankle and placed him under house arrest at a residence in Beechwood. He was also placed on 12 months of probation and must have no contact with the complainants.
He pleaded not guilty to breaking into a residence and committing sexual assault on a female victim for an incident between May 1, 2023, and May 23, 2023, at Moose Mountain.
On Sept. 3, he pleaded guilty to failing to appear for his trial on July 8; breaching his release order (house arrest) in connection with three incidents between Jan. 30 and Feb. 7, 2025, at Beechwood; and assaulting a woman on June 11, 2023, at Moose Mountain.
He also pleaded guilty to possession of a prohibited weapon (brass knuckles) and to breach of a release order in connection with an incident on July 1, 2024, at Killoween, and to breaching his release order by failing to appear in court on July 11, 2023. The Crown withdrew other charges of resisting arrest and breaching a no-contact order. The brass knuckles were forfeited to the Crown, and Crain was prohibited from having weapons for five years.
Crain also pleaded guilty to possession of a stolen dirt bike on May 25, 2024, and guilty to unlawful entry at a dwelling house on June 15, 2023, at Moose Mountain. He will be sentenced on those charges on Sept. 21 at 1:30 p.m.
Crain appeared in provincial court in custody via video in July after being arrested on a warrant. He was denied bail and remanded to jail.
Bail hearing adjourned
A Saint John man appeared in provincial court in custody via video on Sept. 4 for a bail hearing on charges related to a violent incident in Centreville.
Gawayne Green, 34, was charged with attempted murder by stabbing another man several times with a knife and committing aggravated assault on July 10.
At the request of his defence counsel, his bail hearing was adjourned until Sept. 9 at 1:30 p.m. He was ordered to have no contact with several complainants named in the case.
Sentencing for Mapledale man
Cameron James Clark, 25, of Mapledale, appeared in provincial court in custody via video on Sept. 4 and changed his plea to guilty on several charges laid by the RCMP. His sentencing was set for Oct. 8 at 9:30 a.m.
Clark pleaded guilty to breaking into a dwelling house and committing an assault with a weapon, and criminal harassment by stalking a female victim on Sept. 17, 2025, in Mapledale; guilty to obstructing police by failing to identify himself on Sept. 17, 2025, in Debec; and criminal harassment by stalking a female victim, and dangerous driving on Sept. 19, 2025, in Mapledale. The Crown withdrew several other charges. Clark has been in custody since his arrest in April.
In custody awaiting trial
Carly Rae Muzzerolle, 31, of Fredericton, appeared in provincial court via video on Sept. 1 for a pre-trial conference regarding her trial next month. She pleaded not guilty to numerous charges laid by the RCMP, and her trial was rescheduled for Oct. 7 at 1:30 p.m.
Muzzerolle was charged with two counts of identity theft, fraudulent impersonation, forgery, theft of mail, and possession of stolen mail for incidents which occurred between Jan. 1 and March 1, 2025, in Florenceville-Bristol.
She is also facing other charges, including a stolen property charge (a truck), theft on Jan. 2, 2025, and breaching an undertaking on Aug. 22, 2025, in Woodstock. She appeared in custody via video on March 5 for a bail hearing. She was released on conditions, including a curfew and the requirement to wear an ankle monitor, but returned to custody.
In custody awaiting trial
Mitchell David McKenzie, 39, of Wotstak (Woodstock First Nation), will appear for trial in provincial court in custody on Nov. 3 at 1:30 p.m. and on Nov. 27 at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to charges laid by the RCMP.
McKenzie was denied bail on July 31 and found fit to stand trial after a fitness hearing following a five-day mental health assessment at the Restigouche hospital.
In August, he pleaded not guilty to two counts of uttering threats, resisting arrest, breach of a release order and breach of probation for an incident on July 22 at Wotstak. He also pleaded not guilty to uttering threats and breach of probation in connection with another incident on Feb. 7 at Wotstak.
Coldstream man facing sex charges
Donald Grant Ealey, 66, of Coldstream, will appear in provincial court on Oct. 5 at 1:30 p.m. for plea on three sex charges laid by the RCMP. His defence counsel requested a 30-day mental health assessment to determine criminal responsibility, but on Sept. 3 the court heard that the assessment had not yet been completed.
Ealey was charged with sexual assault, touching for a sexual purpose, and engaging a minor in sexual activity in connection with incidents between May 1, 2025, and Feb. 2, 2026, at Howard Brook.
The accused was not remanded for the mental health assessment, which is to be conducted out of custody. He was released on an undertaking on Thursday until his next court appearance with an order to complete the mental health assessment.
Glassville man awaiting trial
Timothy Maurice Thibodeau, 42, of Glassville, appeared in provincial court on Sept. 4 for a monitoring hearing about his trial after pleading not guilty to a drug trafficking charge laid by the RCMP.
He returns to court on Sept. 21 at 1:30 p.m. to confirm he has legal counsel and to set a new trial date. He will also enter a plea on another charge of breaching an undertaking by failing to appear in court.
Thibodeau pleaded not guilty to possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking on Nov. 28, 2023, in Oakland. He was scheduled for an earlier trial but came to court without legal counsel, so the matter was adjourned.
Not-guilty plea
Dominic (Dominique) Gagnon, 40, of Beechwood, appeared in court in custody via video on Sept. 3 and pleaded not guilty to charges laid by the RCMP. A trial date was set for Oct. 7-8, 2027, at 9:30 a.m.
Gagnon was charged with committing public mischief, uttering threats and resisting arrest in connection with an incident on Feb. 17 at Stickney. On May 26, the accused was also charged with trespassing at the Sanctuary House in Woodstock on Jan. 31.
Gagnon was in custody at the Restigouche hospital for a 30-day mental health assessment after being arrested on a breach charge in Edmundston. The accused was found fit in accordance with the medical report and will stand trial in Edmundston on Sept. 18 on the breach charge.
Greenfield man awaiting trial
William Miller, 54, of Greenfield, will appear for trial in provincial court on Jan. 25, 2027, at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to two charges laid by the RCMP.
Miller was charged with impaired driving and driving while prohibited concerning an incident in May 2025 in Bairdsville. On Sept. 4, a pre-trial conference with his lawyer confirmed the trial would proceed in January as scheduled.
Not-guilty verdict
Kerry Sheppard, 56, of Weston, appeared for trial in provincial court on Sept. 2 after pleading not guilty to seven charges laid by the RCMP. The Crown called no evidence, and Sheppard received a directed verdict of not guilty.
Sheppard was charged with assault by choking involving a female victim, assault, two counts of uttering threats, improper storage of a firearm, and possession of seven firearms without a licence in connection with an incident on June 19, 2025, at Weston.
Files transferred
Dawson William Boyle, 25, of Taymouth, appeared in provincial court in custody via video on Sept. 2 after pleading not guilty to 10 charges laid by Woodstock Police. He requested the charges be transferred to Fredericton for a guilty plea, and a sentencing date was set for Nov. 2 at 1:30 p.m.
Boyle was charged with multiple counts of possession of stolen property following an incident in Woodstock on Aug. 24, 2025. He also appeared in court in Saint John on Feb. 2 while in custody, in relation to separate charges in Fredericton and Moncton.
Sentencing on drug charges
Jacob Richard Sewell, 34, of Wotstak (Woodstock First Nation), will appear for sentencing in provincial court on Sept. 22 at 9:30 a.m. after changing his plea to guilty on a drug charge. He appeared in court on Sept. 3 when the sentencing date was reconfirmed.
Sewell was charged with two counts of trafficking in cocaine in connection with incidents on April 24 and May 2, 2025, in Woodstock. The court heard that Sewell was caught selling cocaine to an undercover police officer during two incidents. With the consent of the Crown, the two counts were rolled into one trafficking charge.
He also appeared in court on June 12 for a fitness hearing after completing a 20-day mental health assessment at the Restigouche Hospital. Sewell was found fit according to a medical report. He is also facing an assault charge and a threat charge.
Awaiting plea and trial
Chad Brooker, 36, of Centreville, will appear in provincial court on Sept. 22 at 9:30 a.m. for plea on three charges laid by the RCMP. He was scheduled to enter a plea on Sept. 3 when the matter was adjourned.
Brooker was charged with assault involving a female victim in connection with an incident on Dec. 15, 2025, in Williamstown; theft of a snowmobile on Jan. 10 in Hartland; and possession of a stolen snowmobile on Jan. 11 in Hartland.
At an earlier court appearance, he pleaded not guilty to sexual assault, touching a minor for a sexual purpose and invitation to sexual touching in connection with an incident between June 1 and Oct. 31, 2024, at Centreville. His trial was set for April 1-2, 2027, at 9:30 a.m. A pre-trial conference was also booked for Jan. 5, 2027, at 1:30 p.m.
Charged with trafficking
Michelle Augustine of Neqotkuk (Tobique First Nation) will appear for trial in provincial court on April 30, 2027, at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to a drug charge.
Augustine was also charged by the RCMP with trafficking in cocaine in connection with an incident on Aug. 30, 2024, at Neqotkuk. The charge stemmed from an undercover police investigation in the community. She pleaded not guilty, and a trial date was first set for Sept. 3-4, but was adjourned at the request of her defence counsel.
Possession of cocaine
Charles Giberson, 46, of Rothesay, will appear for sentencing on Nov. 6 at 9:30 a.m. after changing his plea to guilty on a drug trafficking charge laid by Woodstock Police.
Giberson was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, stemming from an incident on July 24, 2024, in Woodstock. He was scheduled for sentencing on Sept. 4, when the matter was adjourned to the new date.
