Lindsay man charged with damaging residence
David Metherall, 33, of Lindsay, appeared in provincial court on Oct. 6 to answer charges related to an alleged altercation that damaged a residence in Jackson Falls.
Metherall was charged by RCMP with two counts of assault on two male victims, uttering threats, dangerous driving and mischief causing over $5,000 damage to a residence on July 3. The matter was adjourned for plea until Nov. 3 at 9:30 a.m. to allow the accused time to seek legal counsel.
11 new gun charges
A Clearview man appeared in provincial court on Oct. 6 for plea on a string of charges related to the alleged smuggling of guns and ammunition at River de Chute.
Gaylon Ross Smith, 57, was charged under the Customs Act by the Canada Border Services Agency with four counts of smuggling semi-automatic handguns and 12 overcapacity magazines, and one count of making false statements to border officials concerning a search and seizure on July 17.
On Tuesday, he also faced 11 more charges stemming from the same incident. All matters were adjourned for plea until Oct. 27 at 9:30 a.m.
Smith was charged with two counts of possession of restricted firearms (handguns), importing restricted firearms, importing overcapacity magazines, possession of prohibited firearms, possession of prohibited overcapacity magazines, being an occupant of a vehicle knowing it carried firearms, two counts of possessing restricted firearms for the purpose of transferring them, and two counts of possession of prohibited firearms for the purpose of transferring them.
Rosedale man in custody
Jerod Nowlan, 43, of Rosedale, will appear in provincial court in Miramichi in custody on Oct. 13 at 9:30 a.m. to answer multiple charges related to guns and drugs. He was scheduled to enter a plea on Sept. 29 when the matter was adjourned to the new date.
Police arrested Nowlan on July 28 as part of an investigation. He was charged with five counts of drug trafficking in fentanyl, methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, and hydromorphone; possession of a loaded handgun, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, and dangerously carrying a firearm. He was remanded to jail after a bail hearing.
In Woodstock, he is facing a charge of driving while suspended. That matter was also adjourned to Oct. 13 at 9:30 a.m. Nowlan has a prior criminal record.
Woodstock man in custody
Jonathan Perry Bustard, 46, of Woodstock, will appear in provincial court on Oct. 9 at 1:30 p.m. to enter a plea to charges laid by Woodstock Police.
Bustard was charged with unlawful entry at a dwelling house, assault involving a female victim, unlawful confinement, mischief causing property damage to a cell phone and stalking a female person in connection with an incident between Sept. 18 and 19 in Woodstock. He was held for a bail hearing and remanded to jail.
Not-guilty plea
Cole Wade Gray, 24, of Upper Kintore, will appear for trial in provincial court on Nov. 23 at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to charges laid by the RCMP. He was scheduled for trial on Oct. 5, but the matter was adjourned to the new date at the Crown’s request.
Gray pleaded not guilty to theft of lumber between July 21, 2023, and July 23, 2023, in Johnville. The Crown withdrew another charge of unlawful entry at a dwelling house. He also pleaded not guilty to breaching curfew and breaching a release order between Nov. 27 and Dec. 1, 2023, at Aroostook.
Gray also pleaded not guilty to two counts of mischief and uttering threats concerning an incident on March 18, 2025, at Lower Kintore. He was released on an undertaking until his trial.
New trial dates confirmed
Muhammed Iqbal, 42, of Somerville, will appear for trial in provincial court on Dec. 21 at 1:30 p.m. and Jan. 7, 2027, at 1:30 p.m. after pleading not guilty to five charges laid by the RCMP. His trial dates were confirmed at a court appearance on Oct. 5.
Iqbal was charged with uttering threats on May 10 in Somerville; three counts of assault and assault by choking between July 1 and July 31 in Somerville. He was released on an undertaking until his next appearance.
Holmesville woman fined $2,000
Renee Hardy, 47, of Holmesville, will appear for trial in provincial court on Oct. 5 and changed her plea to guilty on two charges laid by RCMP.
Hardy pleaded guilty to impaired driving and resisting arrest, stemming from an incident on Oct. 10, 2024, at Perth-Andover. She was fined $2,000 and was placed on probation for 12 months. She was also prohibited from driving for one year. Hardy had a dated and limited prior criminal record.
Newbridge man awaits sentencing
Bernard Murray Turner, 38, of Newbridge, will appear for sentencing in provincial court on Oct. 8 at 1:30 p.m. after pleading guilty to charges laid by Woodstock Police.
Turner pleaded guilty to fraud under $5,000 and possession of stolen property (a cheque) in connection with an incident on Aug. 3, 2023, in Woodstock. The Crown withdrew another forgery charge.
At a separate court appearance, Turner also pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm without a licence (a shotgun) for another incident on Nov. 5, 2024, at Carlow. Conservation officers laid the charge.
Turner was also charged by Woodstock Police with breaching a release order (no-contact), uttering threats, assault, and dangerous driving concerning an incident on June 4, 2025, in Woodstock. On Oct. 5, he pleaded guilty to the charges, and his sentencing was set for Oct. 8 at 1:30 p.m. The Crown withdrew another charge of driving while suspended.
He also pleaded not guilty to a charge of flight from police stemming from an incident on Feb. 16, 2024, and a trial date was set for Dec. 17 at 9:30 a.m.
Sentencing for Mapledale man
Cameron James Clark, 25, of Mapledale, will appear in custody for sentencing in provincial court on Oct. 8 at 9:30 a.m. after changing his plea to guilty on several charges laid by the RCMP.
Clark pleaded guilty to breaking into a dwelling house and committing an assault with a weapon, and criminal harassment by stalking a female victim on Sept. 17, 2025, in Mapledale; guilty to obstructing police by failing to identify himself on Sept. 17, 2025, in Debec; and criminal harassment by stalking a female victim, and dangerous driving on Sept. 19, 2025, in Mapledale. The Crown withdrew several other charges. Clark has been in custody since his April arrest.
Coldstream man facing sex charges
Donald Grant Ealey, 66, of Coldstream, appeared in provincial court on Oct. 5 and pleaded not guilty to seven sex charges laid by the RCMP. His trial dates were set for Sept. 16-17, 2027, at 9:30 a.m. and Sept. 20, 2027, at 9:30 a.m.
Ealey was charged with two counts of sexual assault, two counts of touching for a sexual purpose, invitation to sexual touching, making explicit sexual material available to a minor, and indecent exposure, in connection with incidents between May 1, 2025, and Feb. 2, 2026, at Howard Brook.
His defence counsel requested a 30-day mental health assessment to determine criminal responsibility. On Oct. 5, the court heard that the assessment found no evidence of a mental condition that would remove criminal responsibility. A pre-trial conference was booked for March 16, 2027, at 1:30 p.m.
Charged with threats, intimidation
Kristopher Thomas McConnell, 33, of Hartland, will appear for trial in provincial court on Nov. 19 at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to charges laid by the RCMP.
McConnell appeared in court via teleconference for a monitoring hearing on Oct. 5 and confirmed his trial date. He was charged with two counts of uttering threats, intimidation, and committing mischief. The court heard that he is working outside the province.
Ontario man facing sex charge
David Vermont, 36, of Owen Sound, Ontario, will appear in provincial court on Oct. 13 at 9:30 a.m. to enter a plea to three charges laid by the RCMP.
Vermont was charged with sexual assault, assault and uttering threats stemming from an incident between Aug. 1, 2013, and July 31, 2019, in Fielding. He was scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 6 when the matter was adjourned at the request of his defence counsel. Vermont did not appear, and the court held a warrant on file.
Trial adjourned
Scott Robert Bailey, 72, of Bedell, will appear in provincial court on Oct. 8 at 9:30 a.m. to set a new date for his trial on multiple firearm charges laid by RCMP.
Bailey was charged with four counts of careless use of a firearm, four counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, and one count of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon concerning an incident on April 25, 2025, in Bedell. He pleaded not guilty and was scheduled for trial on Sept. 16-17 when the matter was adjourned.
Guilty of assault
Sherra Gregg, 29, of Anderson Road, Victoria County, will appear for sentencing in provincial court on Nov. 13 at 1:30 p.m. after changing her plea to guilty on an assault charge laid by the RCMP.
Gregg was charged with assaulting another woman and unlawful entry at a dwelling house on July 16, 2024, at Quaker Brook. The Crown withdrew the unlawful entry charge.
Gregg also had a trial set for Sept. 16 after pleading not guilty to charges of breaching an undertaking on March 31, 2025, in Perth-Andover, and criminal harassment by repeated communication between March 8 and March 25, 2025, in Plaster Rock.
Her trial was adjourned, and a new date will be set on Nov. 13. On Oct. 6, the court heard that more files are to be transferred from Saint John for plea.
Monitoring hearing
Jessie Ginson, 36, of Bull Lake, will appear in provincial court on Dec. 8 at 9:30 a.m. for a monitoring hearing. He was committed to stand trial on indictable charges following his preliminary hearing in provincial court on Sept. 18.
Ginson appeared in provincial court in custody on Jan. 6 on charges of breaking and entering a dwelling house and robbery in connection with an incident on Jan. 3 in Windsor. He pleaded not guilty and was released with conditions.
At an earlier court appearance, Ginson elected trial by judge and jury at the Court of King’s Bench. On Oct. 6, the court heard that a resolution may be sought with the Crown.
Guilty plea on three charges
Zachery Don Brooks, 21, of Lower Brighton, appeared in provincial court in custody via video on Oct. 6 and pleaded guilty to three charges. The court denied him bail on Aug. 24 and remanded him.
Brooks pleaded guilty to assault by choking involving a female victim, breach of a no-contact order, and assault causing bodily harm in connection with an incident on Aug. 20 in Lower Brighton. The Crown withdrew a threat charge.
On Aug. 21, Brooks appeared for trial in provincial court and pleaded guilty to three of 14 other charges. His sentencing on all charges was set for Dec. 8 at 1:30 p.m.
Brooks was charged with three counts of assault involving a female victim, three counts of assault by choking, one count of unlawful confinement, two counts of uttering threats, assault with a weapon (a phone cord), assault while threatening to use a weapon (a knife), possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence, and two counts of breaching a release order (no contact).
The charges stemmed from a series of incidents on Nov. 24, 2024; Feb. 12, Feb. 17, May 28, June 9, June 10, and June 11, 2025, in Lower Brighton; and on June 3 and June 5, 2025, in Hartland.
He pleaded guilty to unlawful confinement and guilty to two counts of the lesser included offence of common assault. The Crown withdrew the remaining 11 charges. The court heard details of a woman being threatened, knocked to the ground, dragged into a house, and held at knifepoint. She was able to send a text message for help, then deleted it from her phone.
Brooks also appeared in provincial court on May 19 and pleaded not guilty to six more charges laid by the RCMP. His trial was moved up to Nov. 18 at 1:30 p.m. because he was in custody.
He pleaded not guilty to breaching a no-contact order, uttering threats, assault involving a female victim, assault with a weapon (a broom and a board), assault by choking and mischief causing property damage to a cell phone on Oct. 28, 2025, at Lower Brighton.
Facing sex charge
Mitchell Michael Diamond, 21, of Woodstock, will appear in provincial court on Oct. 13 at 9:30 a.m. for a plea on a sex charge laid by Woodstock Police.
Diamond was charged with sexual assault in connection with an incident on Aug. 9, 2025, in Woodstock. He appeared in court on Oct. 6 when the matter was adjourned to allow him more time to secure legal counsel.
Returning for plea
Kayla Dawn Tibbits, 33, of Woodstock, will appear in provincial court on Oct. 27 at 9:30 a.m. to enter a plea to charges laid by Woodstock Police.
Tibbits appeared in provincial court in custody on Sept. 22 after being arrested for failing to attend court that morning. She was released on conditions and returned to court on Oct. 6 to enter a plea, but the matter was adjourned.
Woodstock Police recently arrested Tibbits on three warrants for failing to appear in court. She was charged with failing to appear for her Aug. 14 trial and released.
Tibbits pleaded not guilty to breach of probation, theft, debit card fraud, and possession of stolen property in connection with three incidents in Woodstock between Nov. 20, 2024, and Dec. 6, 2024. Her new trial date was set for Feb. 19, 2027, at 9:30 a.m.
Charged with driving offences
Devon Melvin Grant, 26, of Temperance Vale, will appear for sentencing in provincial court on Jan. 19, 2027, at 1:30 p.m. after pleading guilty to charges laid by Woodstock Police.
Grant was charged with impaired driving, dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, and flight from police concerning an incident on Feb. 22 in Woodstock. His lawyer entered guilty pleas on his behalf on Oct. 6.
Plea adjourned
Laurie Ann Fleming, 39, of Woodstock, appeared in provincial court on Oct. 6 to answer an assault charge laid by Woodstock Police. The matter was adjourned for plea until Nov. 3 at 9:30 a.m. to allow her more time to secure legal counsel.
Fleming appeared in provincial court in custody via teleconference on Sept. 15 after being arrested on a warrant for failing to attend court. She was charged with assaulting another woman on April 11 in Woodstock. Judge Rose Campbell released her on an undertaking with conditions.
Facing two charges
Stephanie L. Hardy, 59, of Lake George, appeared in provincial court on Oct. 6 and elected to be tried by judge alone at the Court of King’s Bench on two fraud charges laid by Woodstock Police.
Hardy was charged with defrauding the federal government and fraudulent impersonation in connection with incidents in Woodstock between June 19, 2021, and Sept. 21, 2024, and between June 19, 2021, and May 1, 2025.
Her trial date will be set at the next Motion’s Day on Nov. 2. A monitoring hearing was booked for Dec. 8 at 9:30 a.m. to confirm her trial date at the King’s Bench.
Incident in Maxwell
Pipo Michaud, 52, of Maxwell, will appear in provincial court on Oct. 27 at 9:30 a.m. to enter a plea to two charges laid by the RCMP.
Michaud was charged with uttering threats against a female victim on May 20 in Maxwell, and possession of a firearm without a licence on May 26 in Maxwell. He was scheduled for a plea on Oct. 6, but the matter was adjourned at his defence counsel’s request.
Not-guilty plea
Dominic (Dominique) Gagnon, 40, of Beechwood, appeared in provincial court on Oct. 6 and pleaded not guilty to mischief.
Gagnon was charged with damaging a police phone following an incident on June 5 in Woodstock. He also appeared in court in custody via video on Sept. 3 and pleaded not guilty to charges laid by the RCMP. A trial date on all charges was set for July 2, 2027, at 9:30 a.m.
Gagnon was also charged with committing public mischief, uttering threats and resisting arrest in connection with an incident on Feb. 17 at Stickney. On May 26, the accused was also charged with trespassing at Sanctuary House in Woodstock on Jan. 31.
Returning for plea
Dillion Christopher Langille, 29, of Tatamagouche, will appear in provincial court on Oct. 20 at 9:30 a.m. to enter a plea to multiple charges laid by Woodstock Police.
Langille was charged with flight from police, dangerous driving, mischief, assaulting a police officer, and resisting arrest, concerning an incident on July 5 in Woodstock. He appeared in provincial court on Oct. 6 via teleconference, when the matter was adjourned for disclosure. A warrant was held on file until his next court appearance.
Plea adjourned
Tina Noella Albert, 54, of Upper Kintore, will appear in provincial court on Oct. 13 at 9:30 a.m. to enter a plea on a threat charge laid by the RCMP.
Albert was charged with uttering threats against another woman in connection with an incident on April 13 at Craig’s Flat near Perth-Andover. She appeared in court on Oct. 6, when the matter was adjourned at the Crown’s request.
Sentencing adjourned
Patrick Rattray, 30, of Woodstock, will appear in provincial court for sentencing on Dec. 8 at 1:30 p.m. after his trial on charges laid by Woodstock Police. He was scheduled for sentencing on Oct. 6 when the matter was adjourned to the new date at the request of his defence counsel.
On May 4, Judge Rose Campbell found Rattray guilty of breaching a peace bond, uttering threats, and committing mischief in connection with an incident in Woodstock on Oct. 9, 2024. The Crown withdrew an assault charge. The judge found Rattray not guilty of assault causing bodily harm involving a female victim, and not guilty of assault by choking in connection with an incident between Jan. 1 and Feb. 9, 2024, in Woodstock. The Crown withdrew two other charges.
