Kintore man released until sentencing
Gunner Gray, 24, of Upper Kintore, appeared for trial in provincial court in custody via video on Aug. 7 and changed his plea to guilty on multiple charges laid by the RCMP. He was released with conditions until his sentencing on Sept. 17 at 1:30 p.m.
Gray was denied bail on April 16. On Friday, he pleaded guilty to breaching his release order, mischief involving damage to an ankle bracelet, and resisting arrest on April 13 at Richmond Settlement and Bath.
He also pleaded guilty to flight from police, dangerous driving and impaired driving in connection with an incident on March 17 in Glassville; guilty to flight from police and driving while suspended on Feb. 11 in Jacksonville; guilty to uttering threats, resisting arrest, fleeing police, and four violations of the Motor Vehicle Act for incidents on Feb. 25, April 8 and July 22, 2025. Four other breach charges were withdrawn by the Crown.
Arrested and released
Caleb Wavel Crain, 42, of Piercemont, appeared in provincial court in custody on Aug. 7 after being arrested on a warrant for failing to appear in court. He was released with conditions until his next court appearance.
Crain changed his plea to guilty on a charge of failing to report his whereabouts to the national sex offender registry. He will be sentenced on Sept. 11 at 1:30 p.m.
He also appeared in provincial court on Feb. 3 and pleaded not guilty to firearm charges laid by Woodstock Police. His trial was booked for Sept. 11 at 1:30 p.m.
Crain was charged with transporting a firearm in a careless manner, possession of a firearm without a licence (a semi-automatic rifle), and being an occupant of a vehicle knowing it carried a firearm, following an incident on June 19, 2025, in Woodstock.
New trial date set
Shayne Everett Cameron, 33, of Woodstock, appeared in provincial court in custody via video on Aug. 6 to set a new trial date after pleading not guilty to charges laid by the RCMP. His trial was rescheduled for Nov. 16 at 9:30 a.m.
Cameron appeared in provincial court in custody for a bail hearing on April 2, when he waived bail. He was charged with possession of a firearm while prohibited from having it, flight from police, dangerous driving, two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, and breach of probation following an incident on March 29 at Perth-Andover when a spike belt was used to stop a fleeing vehicle. Cameron has a prior criminal record.
Sentencing in August
Joshua Matthew Jarrett, 39, of Woodstock, appeared in provincial court in custody via video on Aug. 5 for sentencing on charges laid by RCMP. His sentencing was adjourned until Aug. 25 at 1:30 p.m.
Jarrett pleaded guilty to theft of a truck and flight from police on Feb. 5 in East Brighton. Three other charges were withdrawn by the Crown. He appeared in court in custody in March for a bail hearing and was released on conditions, but was later arrested in Fredericton on other matters.
Jarrett was also charged with mischief causing property damage to an ankle bracelet on March 12 in Woodstock and obstructing police on Sept. 25, 2025, at Dow Settlement.
Agreed to peace bond
Brandon Williamson, 29, of Fredericton, appeared for trial in provincial court on Aug. 6 after pleading not guilty to an assault charge. He agreed to sign a 12-month peace bond, and the trial was cancelled.
RCMP charged Williamson with assault involving a female victim, stemming from an incident on March 5 at Plaster Rock. The peace bond will result in the charge being withdrawn.
No-contact order
Joseph Diamond, 43, of Woodstock, appeared in provincial court on Aug. 6 for a pre-trial hearing on a sex charge laid by Woodstock Police.
Diamond pleaded not guilty to sexual assault involving a minor in connection with an incident on April 27, 2024, in Woodstock. His trial was set for Aug. 19 at 9:30 a.m.
On Aug. 6, the Crown amended the charge to common assault, and Diamond agreed to sign a 12-month peace bond. He was ordered to have no contact with the complainant. The peace bond will result in the charges being withdrawn.
Trial continues
Cindy Demerchant, 53, of Lower Kintore, will appear in provincial court on Aug. 10 at 9:30 a.m. for the continuation of her trial on a theft charge.
Demerchant was charged with break and enter and theft of food and money from Tim Hortons in Perth-Andover between May 9 and May 31, 2024. She pleaded not guilty.
Evidence presented by the Crown at trial included video surveillance from the restaurant. Testimony from staff revealed that Demerchant was an employee who allegedly entered the premises after hours.
Wotstak man awaits sentencing
Greg Paul McCormick, 36, of Wotstak (Woodstock First Nation), will appear in provincial court in custody for sentencing on Aug. 11 at 1:30 p.m after changing his plea to guilty on several charges laid by the RCMP.
McCormick was denied bail when he appeared in provincial court in custody via video on Sept. 8, 2025. He was charged by the RCMP with arson causing damage to a dwelling house, three counts of uttering threats, breaking into a dwelling house to commit mischief, three counts of assaulting a police officer while threatening to use gasoline, and causing injury to a dog by choking it in connection with an incident on June 25, 2025, at Wotstak. Two of the charges were withdrawn by the Crown.
He appeared in court on July 4, 2025, for a fitness hearing following a five-day mental health assessment at the Restigouche Hospital. He was found fit to stand trial in accordance with his medical report.
East Brighton man awaits sentencing
Ozzie Jr. Trecartin, 31, of East Brighton, will appear for sentencing in provincial court on Aug. 11 at 1:30 p.m. after changing his plea to guilty on charges laid by the RCMP.
Trecartin pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm without a licence, storage of multiple firearms in a careless manner, and resisting arrest on July 21, 2024, in East Brighton. He also pleaded guilty to impaired driving and two counts of driving while suspended on July 21, 2024, in Peel.
Other charges of attempted murder, reckless discharge of a firearm at a place while a person was inside, two counts of indictable assault against another man, and uttering threats were withdrawn by the Crown.
Trecartin appeared in provincial court via video for a bail hearing on July 30, 2024, and was released on conditions. He was ordered to have no firearms in his possession. He was scheduled for sentencing in May when the matter was adjourned to the new date.
