Millville woman dies after collision in Maple Ridge

RCMP say accident occurred when car hit a deer

A 43-year-old woman from Millville has died following a collision in Maple Ridge.

On Thursday, Oct. 23, at approximately 7:08 a.m., members of the Nackawic and Keswick RCMP, Millville Fire Department, and Ambulance New Brunswick responded to a report of a collision between a car and a deer on Route 605 in Maple Ridge.

The collision is believed to have occurred when a vehicle, travelling southbound on Route 605 struck a deer, sending the deer into a northbound-travelling vehicle, driven by the woman.

The driver and lone occupant of the northbound vehicle, the 43-year-old woman, died at the scene as a result of her injuries. The driver and lone occupant of the first vehicle, travelling southbound, was uninjured.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene and is assisting with the ongoing investigation. Route 605 was closed for most of Thursday morning.

An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the woman’s exact cause of death.

The investigation is ongoing.
