Rose Campbell’s appointment brings number of provincial court judges to 28
Justice Minister Robert McKee has appointed a Fredericton lawyer who has worked with the Attorney General’s office for the last 15 years as Woodstock’s newest provincial court judge.
Rose Campbell was appointed on Thursday, Nov. 27.
“Making sure people have fair, reliable access to justice is one of the most important things a government can do,” said McKee in a GNB news release. “Becoming a judge is a real honour, but it also comes with big responsibilities. It takes not just legal skill, but good judgment, empathy and integrity. I am confident their experience and professionalism will serve our province well as they step into this role.”
Her appointment brings the number of full-time provincial court judges to 28, including the chief judge and the associate chief judge. There are also two supernumerary judges and eight per diem judges.
Campbell graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Laws and Osgoode Hall Law School with a Master of Laws. She was called to the bar in 2010 and worked for the Office of the Attorney General for 15 years, most recently with the constitutional law unit.
In addition, Woodstock Judge Karen Lee will help establish and preside in virtual bail court, the first of its kind in New Brunswick, and sit as a travelling judge.
