NB Power’s website says most customers will be back on the grid in short order
Rolling thunderstorms triggered warnings and watches across New Brunswick, resulting in a few power outages late on Thursday afternoon, July 3. Environment Canada issued severe thunderstorm watches and warnings. High winds and heavy rain were expected, with the worst downpours reaching up to 40 mm. Hail fell in some regions.
The NB Power outages website initially reported a significant number of outages in the Carleton region, including 97 in Lower Brighton and Pembroke. Other customers were without power in Good Corner, Lakeville, and Lower Queensbury. As of 6 p.m., approximately 20 homes or businesses are impacted.
The website says power should be restored by 7:30 p.m. this evening.
Other areas across the province also had outages, including the Restigouche region, where over 800 customers were initially without power in Atholville, Glencoe, Saint-Arthur, and Val-D’Amour. There is also a large power outage in Dawsonville, Flatlands, and Mann’s Mountain. As of 6 p.m., Restigouche was reported as having only 232 customers without power.
