One person sent to hospital with minor injuries

One person was sent to the hospital after a car and dump truck collided at the Woodstock end of the Grafton Bridge on Tuesday morning, Aug. 26.

First responders were called to the intersection of Deakin Drive and Main Street at 7:40 a.m.

“It was determined that a Honda Civic had attempted to turn left at a green light, onto Main Street, coming from the Grafton Bridge,” Deputy Police Chief Simon Watts told the River Valley Sun in an email.

The Civic drove into the path of a dump truck that was travelling on Deakin Drive, toward the bridge.

“The collission resulted in extensive damage to the Honda Civic,” wrote Deputy Chief Watts. “A passenger in that vehicle was transported by ambulance to the DEC in Fredericton, with minor injuries, as a precaution.”

Traffic was briefly delayed while a tow truck worked to remove the damaged car from the bridge entrance.
