Woodstock woman to appear before judge again in new year
A Woodstock woman charged with attempted murder is expected to enter a plea on Jan. 12, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
Destiny Dawn Innis, 23, appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court on Dec. 17 to enter a plea, but Judge Sebastian Michaud adjourned the matter to the new year at the request of her defence counsel. The court heard further disclosure was being sought from the Crown.
Woodstock Police charged Innis following a violent altercation at a downtown residence on Houlton Street on Oct. 20, when a 74-year-old woman was assaulted and stabbed in her home around 9 p.m. Woodstock Police, the Woodstock Fire Department, and Ambulance New Brunswick were called to the scene.
The victim was transported to the Upper River Valley Hospital and later transferred to the Saint John Regional Hospital with serious injuries.
At a bail hearing on Nov. 6, Innis was released from custody and was placed under house arrest at a residence at Neqotkuk (Tobique First Nation). She is required to wear an electronic monitoring device attached to her ankle and must have no contact with the victim. She has no prior criminal record.
The victim was present in court on Wednesday with her family. Innis stood before the judge with her back to the public gallery and left the courtroom quietly, surrounded by family members from Neqotkuk.
