Acclamations mean only two races in municipal election
The council in the community of Nackawic-Millville will mostly remain the same, as there were only two races for council seats. In Ward 1 (Southampton area), Anthony Moorcroft and Stephen Ouellet were vying for a seat on the council, with Ouellet winning a place at the council table.
In Ward 4 (Millville area), former Millville mayor Beverly Forbes and incumbent Colin Trail were vying for a seat. Incumbent Colin Trail won that race and will rejoin the council.
Current Mayor Tim Fox will serve a second term by acclamation. Other council members also in by acclamation include:
The Nackawic area (Ward 3) has two council seats, with Greg MacFarlane returning and newcomer Floyd D’entremont winning by acclamation.
Councillor Jeff Clark will serve a 2nd term for Ward 2, Steven Meldrum will do the same in Ward 5 (Dumfries), and Errol Graham will return for Ward 6.
Colin Trail said the people have spoken.
“They have decided to give me four more years to work on the projects we started in the past three years. As always I will make one promise and that is to do the best I can to the best of my ability. As you know I am a taxpayer also,” said Trail.

He thanked all the residents who got out to vote.
Stephen Ouellet won a seat on council and thanked everyone for their support in electing him to represent Ward 1 for the Nackawic-Millville area. He said he was truly grateful for the trust and confidence the residents have placed in him.
“My priority moving forward is to continue talking with and listening to the concerns of the people in our ward while settling in with the new council. I’m very excited to work alongside Mayor Tim Fox and the other councillors as we work together for the future of our community,” said Ouellet.

“Thank you again for your support and I look forward to serving Ward 1 and our community.”
Mayor Tim Fox said Ouellet and D’Entremont will be great additions to the council.
“They are both very capable and well-respected individuals and I’m looking forward to working with them over the next four years,” said Fox.
The swearing-in ceremony for the new council will be held on Thursday, May 28, with the first council meeting taking place on Monday, June 1.
