Event draws Halloween lovers while raising money
Screams of fright and peals of laughter could be heard in the night air in Florenceville-Bristol during the ‘Haunted Trail’ fundraiser.
The event, at the newly opened Shogomoc Trail on Oct. 26. For those wanting tricks, various spooky sights delighted and frightened those brave enough to enter the trail. A small market offered treats from Sweet & Savoury and Bub’s Treats, with a fundraiser barbecue organized by Smith’s Dance Academy.
The event was hosted by the District of Carleton North and put on by a dedicated group of volunteers. Sharon Johnston is the District’s Tourism Manager.
She said they put out a call for help, and more than 25 people stepped up, including Carleton North High School students, Florenceville Kin’s Club members, and others.
“We had an incredible turnout with approximately 540 tickets sold,” said Johnston. She also said the feedback from the event has been positive.
She noted that the event wouldn’t have come together without community support and volunteers.
“Their involvement really enhanced the atmosphere and made it a memorable experience for everyone.”
Johnston is hopeful that, given the success, the event will become an annual event.
