Here are the District of Carleton North Council briefs from their Nov. 14 meeting
Municipal and zoning reports now available online
Mayor Andrew Harvey informed councillors and the public that Dillon Consulting had completed a report outlining public feedback and district residents’ priorities surrounding the community’s municipal plan and zoning bylaws.
The mayor explained the report includes information gathered during public consultations.
He explained that the report gives a breakdown of critical areas of importance and how to address them through municipal planning.
The report is available for viewing on the District of Carleton North website.
Update on Florenceville Highway Bridge
The Florenceillve Highway Bridge will remain reduced to a single lane through the winter.
Mayor Harvey said Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Richard Ames delivered a bridge update in a recent letter.
The minister explained that during the initial repairs, the team discovered that the structural supports for the bridge overhangs were in worse condition than expected, requiring additional work to reinforce them.
Until this work has been completed and inspected, Ames explained, the bridge must remain one lane throughout the winter.
Harvey said Ames committed to keeping staff and council members updated on the progress of the bridge repairs.
